Hi all,

Hope you are well.

My wife and I are going to start streaming, and we have 1 microphone inbetween us, but we will be streaming to our own channels. We can't go to separate rooms, so could I get a 1 female to 2 male splitter and connect it to both of ours. Or would something like voicemeteer be better with it connected to just one of our PCs?

Thanks

Depends on what the microphone is and what you already have and what you want to spend.

If you got some USB mic do it with voicemeeter or some other digital way

got a XLR mic, depends what equipment you got. Maybe a active splitter, maybe just taking a line out of a interface.

got nothing, depends what you want to spend.

IMO the best way to handle this would likely be to take the Mic, put it into a simple standard Mixer, then have each computer pull the sound from a different output on the mixer.

But the question is, what are you actually trying to accomplish? Do you want both streams to capture both of your voices? If that's the case, a single Mic is just fine (though 2 would allow higher quality and better positioning).

But if you want one stream to only capture one of you, 2 mic's is basically a must.

Hi both, thanks for your replies. Yeah we are trying to capture both of our voices in our streams plus our kids voices who sit next to us. We currently have a USB mic that I brought a while ago. I was concerned that 2 mics close to each other might cause interference or weird echos/voice loop?
