so i had this pc since june of 2022, and its running just fine when the power cable is placed as is in diagram a. however when i try to straighten the cable the pc wont turn on. i think its probably something with the power cable, so is there any way to mitigate this?

PC power cables are cheap. Just get a new one. The only other possibility is that kink in the cable is actually forcing the plug to form a better connection with the connector on the PSU.

Get another power cable, they're standardized. Your monitor may have the same power cable if it doesn't have a laptop adapter like power supply.

 

IF you still have issues, it may be a problem inside the actual power socket on the power supply, like the wires from the pins being badly connected, or maybe the metal prongs/pins inside the ac socket being dirty or oxidized or damaged in some way that you get good contact only when the AC plug puts pressure on the pins and ac socket

If  that's really the problem, that AC socket is also standardized and can be replaced, but if you don't have soldering skills or soldering equipment, you need to buy the component and go to a place the services computers or electronics to install that ac socket into your power supply and solder the wires to it inside.
