Nothing to do with future proofing ive seen the reviews where tighter timings make a bump in performance for am5 specifically. This is the video

30 fps difference in cl 36-cl30 over a 7 game average at 1080p on the 7700x and 7950x3d. Intel is less effected.

The non x3d chips are much more sensitive to it

Afaik the primaries dont do shit, you are problably seeing benifits of tighter subs since good ics like hynix a die should be able to tighten the subs better, still though dont pay extra for c30 over c32 unless its within a few $, same ic, same 8000+ capability, basically the same binning wise

Though @RONOTHAN## actually has experience with ddr5 oc so lets just see what he has to say

It's not they don't do anything, they do have some impact on performance, it's just that subtimings have a much bigger impact and even if you're only going to look at the primary timings, the metric that actually matters for latency is 2000 * (tCL + tRCD + 8) / data rate, not only tCL like people try to stress.

I don't know if we're watching the same video or what, but the difference is 15 FPS for the both 6000 rated kits. The "CL36" kit you're referring to in that video is at 5200MT/s, which is where the performance differences come from as the timings are a function of frequency. A 6000 CL36 kit in calculated latency is very similar to the 6000 CL30 in that setup due to the tighter tRCD found on CL36 kits, so expect an even smaller difference between a 6000 CL36 kit and a 6000 CL30 kit than the 6000 CL40/CL30 kits in that video.
