CRT Monitors Appraisal - I don't know where to start

Montanner

Hello all! We recently had a loss in our family and my partner and I are trying to help her father downsize and move. He was an IT specialist in the late 80's and through the 90's and still has a lot of his old hardware. He has several CRT Monitors in good condition, but I'm not sure if they are desirable models. Looking for any help I can get to get a rough idea if they are worth anything to the CRT Monitor enthusiasts out there.  He has the following:

- 4 of the NEC MultiSync XP17

- 1 of the NEC MultiSync XP21

I've seen some ebay listings around $600, but I have no clue if those are random money grabs or not.  Thanks for any and all information!

By saying they are in good condition do you mean they are working or just look decent? Personally I'm not into CRTs so I can't give you any advice on the pricing, but due to the fact noone really manufactures them anymore and repairing them is rarely an option, working models tend to carry quite a bit of value. If they're dead then someone might be interested in them for parts, but for the most part they'd be e-waste.

They are all working and have a solid image quality (as far as I can tell as a non collector), but I have yet to do an intensive quality check. If they do seem to be dying, I would likely just sell for parts or try to find a local e-waste recycling facility.

LTT had 2 videos in the last year where they played around the topic of CRTs and the prices they've run into went well into the hundreds of dollars (and even thousands for the most desirable models), so if they're working you can definetely get quite a bit out of them.

Those videos are actually the main reason they aren't immediately going to e-waste. I had no idea that the CRT scene even existed till I saw those. Any clue if there are any forums specifically for the CRT crowd?
