I5-13400F OR I5-11600K

I need a new CPU for my pc build that can support the 3060. I'm torn between the 13400f and 11600k they are around the same price but one has more cores one has less do i need more cores or? I like to play high end games whilst watching movies or streaming to friends. I want to be able to run games without frame drops as I currently get it with my 9400f that's bottlenecking my 3060 oc.

Are you also planning on upgrading your motherboard and ram? The 13400f is the fastest out those CPU's.

13400F is faster in every possible way. You don't really need more than 6 cores for gaming, but the cores on the 13400F are faster so it's the better choice.

Also look at the 12600K(F), it's a bit faster than the 13400F because it's clocked a fair bit higher and is usually the same price as the 13400F. Plus it has a better memory controller than the 13400F so it should just be a better CPU overall.

Remember that you will need a new motherboard for both the 11600k and the 13400f, they do not fit in your Z370p motherboard.  The 11600k and 13400f also uses different motherboards as well.

You're gonna need a new motherboard to handle any of those CPUs unfortunately.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.
