We got to see Linus and team test the Steam Deck prototype but for some reason they shy away from testing VR hardware. Unfortunately the current top VR Hardware YouTube folks that get access to prerelease hardware don't ever seem to ask the hard questions or test things with actual tools. It frustrates me watching a Q&A session with the CEO and other top level hardware frolks from PiMax but the difficult questions arn't asked and in preproduction units (like the PiMax Crystal for example) very little actual standardized testing is done. This isn't due to NDA either (I checked), they just don't have the hardware and skills to know what their doing. I sincerely hope Linus dedicates more time toward protoype and finalized VR hardware.

For reference, my inspiration for posting was from all the questions and misinformation swarming around the PiMax Crystal at the moment and how it drains the battery even while plugged in.

they've done a video on the PSVR thing for PS5.

beyond that.. it might be a matter of the in-depth VR stuff being both difficult to quantify in a 'score', and it's just not mainstream enough to pull the viewers needed to offset the cost of all that work.

i should put this on a macro at some point:

Possibly for the Labs roadmap.

Because VR is awful in its current state, There isnt much point in doing a ton of testing for such a niche audience as its adoption rate is pitiful, and there just arent enough games on it to make this testing worth it.

ROI is not high enough for VR, and it pretty much wont be for another decade. Dont expect much from hardware that requires expensive systems that also then cost 500-1000$ for a usable experience.

Also VR is very subjective, Some people can use it no problem, others get sick. Performance is performance and thats a simple test, but implementations, and all that other stuff for VR heavily depends on the studio making the game
