oh wow asrock

Irrelevant. I would never buy an Asrock board.

Also, all in one solutions are notoriously terribad for one very simple reason...

Simple Reason #1: If one part of that motherboard breaks, you have to replace the motherboard, so what is the point?

That's why we've been gifted with bountiful PCI-E slots, so we can BUILD the computer we want.

I imagine someone fills this up with raid 0 SSDs and goes Linus you have 8 SSDs well...

It's already been done by asrock themselves :D.

ASRock actually had a build with 22 SSDs which was posted hre 3 days ago: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/23115-asrock-shows-off-z87-extreme11ac-build-with-22-ssds/. I doubt the controller will be as fast as any discrete raid card though, so anyone using many drives or especially anyone running RAID5/6 would be better off with a RAID card.

This will be perfect for my upcoming storage server build (software RAID). It will be priced around $400 I am guessing. If that's the case, I say it's a very good value.

Yeah, that was the case I was thinking of, but they're are not many other options. The board is great for specific purposes, and if they actually go through with it, it seems like it would be a great option for a specific build.

probably a mis-communication between the designers, corporate and the factory.

Corporate brainstormers -"We need board with more than 2 sata port"

Engineers/designer - "Did he say 22 sata ports? .... Back to the drawing board"

Factory - "Well this is bit extreme but whatever we can make it :D "

Marketers/corporate - "Who the $@#* designed this? Oh well we have 5000 of them better sell em anyway"

Also the meeting was probably similar to the infamous

When they say extreme they aren't messing around

Indeed.

... Holy. Mother. Of. God.

This board is.... Amazing Extreme.

The only horrible part about this board is the $520 price tag. And yes, it's real. It's on Newegg right now. Link below for those interested.

ASRock Extreme 11/ac

I just wish it had more SATA ports.
