7600x vs 13500

Hi guys, a bit on the fence here on which route to go. I've had my PC for some years now, GPU is fine, just upgrading because I kinda want to.

I currently have;

8700 non k

3080 10GB

16GB 3600 mhz ram

Z370 Asus Prime

I want to go for a mid range ish upgrade, I am leaning towards 7600x or 13500 with 6000mhz RAM (not sure if CLA matters)

I pretty much only do gaming, and some emulation, but I haven't used my PC for anything 'workstation related' for many years now.

So I'm kinda just doing it because I can, and wanting some opinions on which route to go.

Thanks,

Ryzen 7600X | MSI Trio X 3080 | 3440x1440p asus vg34vql1b | Antec HCG 850 | 1TB WD Blue SSD | 500GB Aorus Elite | Asus B650 Strix A

Thanks,

I have had intel since 2004 ( unknown intel - Q6600 - i7-950 - 6600k - 9900k )  and made the switch to AMD 7700x in November and I am very very happy with it.  I like the upgrade path it gives as they will support the socket for a while, maybe I can get a 9800X3D in 3-4 years and a new GPU and basically have a brand new system without changing anything else.  You got some upgrade path with the 13500 to 13900k but thats about it on the Intel side. here is a picture from Hardware Unboxed with at 10 game average at 1440p, you can see how well the 7600x does in gaming!  I'd definitely go AMD this time.

If you can wait a bit I'd consider the 7800X3D

it's a good idea to upgrade CPU if you got that 3080,

I don't know all the reasons of both CPUs reasons to go for them, but just a few:

future and socket - Intel on uncontinued socket (or 14th gen max) vs AMD on brand new socket which may or may not last a while

I watched one benchmark and the AMD 7600x beats 13500, I'm not sure how legit it was but perhaps slightly higher cache on AMD can be beneficial

I'd either wait for some good price drop deal or perhaps the 7800x3D as @Mister Woof said

If you're in the US, Newegg's got a deal today where you can get a B650 motherboard and 7600X for $338, so that does help the value of the Ryzen option:

yeah, I do suppose the price/performance of this is hard to beat...the 7800X3D is going to be $449 alone....

Hi guys, so I haven't decided yet on what I'm going to go for. I'm toying with the idea of a 5800x3d and high end ddr4 ram as well.

But before I do that I just have some fun questions.

I want to run some benchmarks before and after I upgrade, just to quantify the difference in performance.

I don't know anything about synthetic benchmarks, so advice there is welcome.

But this far I'm going to test the following games.

World of Warcraft - I believe this will benefit the most from a faster CPU

Warhammer 3 - especially end turn timers

Cyberpunk

The others idfk might not make any difference at all with a 3080.

But it's more for fun.

What other benchmarks programs or game should I run?

you wanna quote people if you want them to write back to you,

you can look up benchmarks of 3080 + specific cpu, and compare those to your benchmarks too,

or see what people use to benchmark,

right games is usually enough of a benchmarking measure at least for gamers.
