Hello, I just upgraded motherboards to a Asus Maximus Code Z390. I have two 1TB WD Blue M.2 installed one is my Windows Boot Drive and the other is basically empty. (I use it for recording my OBS vods [not important]). When I boot into Windows sometimes I will get all the way through the login screen when the computer will freeze. It won't crash and restart it will just sit frozen and unresponsive to everything. Other times when turning it on the boot device just won't be detected and I'll be prompted to install a valid boot device. Other times I will be faced with Windows booting into safe mode and I've tried to reinstall windows from here and it will crash roughly half way through. Something else I've done was move my two RAM sticks around to other slots and still have the same issue.  Both these drives were operating perfectly earlier today on my Asus Prime motherboard board, so I am at a loss at this point as to what is going on. Thanks for the help.

did you reinstall windows or did you just put the os drive in assuming jumping boards was a feature of the os

I did not reinstall windows, I have applications on my boot drive that I would like to keep but I can just redownload it's not an issue if I lose them. But I've been able to jump between motherboards in the past with the exact same drive and not have any issues. When I try and reinstall windows through safe mode it just freezes.

The most you can do right now is save your data somewhere else and re-install Windows by booting from a thumb drive.
Your drivers could also be missing since it's possible you're now running another chipset and so on...

I appreciate everyone who responded to my post. It appears at least for the time being that I may have fixed the issue without having to re-install Windows. I updated the BIOS as a last ditch before re-installing, and I was able to get into Windows, login and have been able to use my computer for at this point 20 minutes now without freezing or crashing. Again, thank you all for your help!
