So its overheating when you try to load windows basically.. its shutting itself down to protect itself.   You need to cool that CPU better, BIOS temps should be in the mid to low 30s

before it started reboot looping it ran with 30-40 C with only task manager and speccy open so i wonder why it jumps so high in bios

80C is somewhat acceptable for the i7-2600, but I'm thinking this is a thermal paste issue. I have a 2600 with a 1050 that never breaks 60-65C gaming at 1600p. Was this a new build out of old parts or bought secondhand? If secondhand, previous owner may not have known to refresh thermal paste and sold it.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

everything except gpu and storage is secondhand bought build by previous owner.

so i should take out and clean cooler and cpu and apply new thermal paste? and see if that works

im probably gonna buy a new cooler when i get the money

i’m pretty new to pc stuff but i’m getting along and learning stuff everyday thanks for helping.

oh and it’s a i7-4790k i don’t know if there’s a big difference between that and the 2600

This. If you bought it second hand, there's a VERY good chance that thermal paste is crustier then that 18-year-old slice of bread behind your fridge. If this is the case, you'll want to replace it. I have a feeling you'll find that the previous owner didn't clean it properly at all and all you need is a pea sized dot of thermal goo and you'll be good to go (after cleaning the previous stuff off with alcohol of course).

Keep in mind that I am sometimes wrong, so please correct me if you believe this is the case!

any thermal paste or does it matter what i use?

just rubbing alcohol right?

but i’m wondering i’ve seen people with the same cpu at up to 98-100 celsius without going into problems like i did so could that really be why it’s going in reboot loop?

sorry if it sounds dumb i just don’t quite understand all these things.

Rubbing alcohol may work, but isopropyl alcohol is better for cleaning. And any thermal paste suitable for CPU coolers is okay. And yes, overheating can cause shutdowns to avoid damage, it's usually a BIOS feature. And yes, old thermal paste will cause overheating.

I could have sworn I saw i7-2600 in the original post. Was it edited or did I have a brain-fart?

Three dots in a triangle center mast on the CPU lid should do the trick. Be careful to wipe any excess as you tighten the cooler brackets down.

i guess it does need to be replaced so i will be buying some thermal paste, can i use 93% denatured ethanol, butanon to remove the thermal paste with micro fiber cloth?

Haven't used that before, but looks like that stuff was just starting to dry out. May just not have had enough.

Honestly, I've wiped off paste that was still gooey with a paper towel or tissue. You only really need solvents to remove stubborn dried bits. If you use it, just be careful not to get it on the board or socket. Dampen the cloth with the stuff before applying the cloth to the surface.

May want to set your cooler fan speed to max if possible, but it's probably not necessary. When you go to upgrade your cooler, a Cooler Master i70 is sufficient. I used one on an i7-2600 (also 4 core / 8 thread) and as mentioned previously, it peaks around 60-65C gaming at 1600p with a GTX1050.

well that didnt work quite the opposite it now jumps from 80 to 95 celsius just in bios within a few seconds and the cpu coolers fan stopped spinning but i know they are plugged in correct since they did spin but suddenly stopped

Double check your CPU cooler connection. It is possible to get them one pin off, or in some cases, backwards.
