Been looking for a new 1440p monitor, right now it stands between the LG 27GP850 and Asus ROG Strix XG27AQ. Which should I choose? Or should i look for other alternatives?

Seem to be very similarly spec'd, so for me it would be whichever is cheaper or looks cooler to you,

Ryzen 5800X3D(Because who doesn't like a phat stack of cache?) GPU - 7700Xt

                                                           X470 Strix f gaming, 32GB Corsair vengeance, WD Blue 500GB NVME-WD Blue2TB HDD, 700watts EVGA Br

~Extra L3 cache is exciting, every time you load up a new game or program you never know what your going to get, will it perform like a 5700x or are we beating the 14900k today? 😅~

Overall, the Asus is slightly better, but the LG has one big advantage: You don't have to change overdrive settings depending on your expected fps. That basically means that performance is more consistent at different Hz.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Make sure you take a look at the warrantys for both companys, Asus can be a pita to deal with if you are in NA, but in asia/EU it doesnt seem so bad. LG ive never dealt with for warranty service or know anyone who has, but the good thing with them is they are a OEM for the base panels in the monitors and tvs for alot of companys, so theres a advantage there.

I ran the XG27AQ as my primary monitor for 2 years and enjoyed it. IPS glow seemed pretty minimal compared to images I've seen of other monitors over the year. I have zero complaints about it, except I'd rather it sit just a little higher on my desk, which is why I got a monitor arm for it.

Stahlmann mentioned overdrive settings. Honestly, I never messed with mine, just used Rtings' recommended and left it, never really have any noticeable issues. They recommend Overdrive Level 1 for 144Hz and 120Hz, but no overdrive for 60Hz. Most people these days can easily push more than 60Hz, and I had a 6700xt and then a RTX 3080, so I could set it and forget it.

How's the black uniformity on the XG27AQ, any bleed or glow? The monitor I have now is the VG249Q1A, and I have been pretty satisfied with it due to ips glow and poor contrast

To my eyes, the thing looks great when dark. Glow/bleed seems minimal compared to my very, very old LCD 1080p Samsung, and the XG27AQ even beats my older Asus 1440p 60Hz monitor.
