first off sorry for all the recent posts im on disability and dont get much money to play around with in terms of pc upgrades example i bought my 3900X on lauch day and it ook me from lauch day till 2023 just to have enough moey saved up for a 5000 series cpu anyhow

specs below
asus crosshair 7 hero X470
ryzen 3900x
4x 8 gig teamgroup 3733mhz ddr4 ram
1000 watt seasonic gold rated psu
6600xt sapphire pulse
1tb sabrent rocket nvme drive
360mm cooler master aio
screen res currently 1080p since i got the monitor for 50$
the question im posing to the group is this:

do i keep my 3900X for a few more years till i can afford to save up for AM5 or do i upgrade to either a 5800X or a 5800X3D?

the 5800X3D is currently 100$ more than the stock 5800X not sure i can justify paying the extra 100$ for the 3D V-CACHE

If you decide to upgrade then yes, I'd definitely pay the extra for the 5800X3D as it produces much more stable frame rates.

But if you are happy with your current performance and no plans to upgrade the GPU, I'd stick with what you have.

The 3900X is still a really powerful CPU. There's no point to upgrading it. If anything the GPU is holding you back significantly more than the CPU could.

Only upgrade when the performance of your PC isn't as good as you want it to be. If you're satisfied with your PC's current performance there's no point to upgrading. You could easily hold on that CPU for another couple years.

i don't think it really makes sense with your current GPU, imo better safe up for AM5.
