GPU or MOBO?

Go to solution Solved by Hidden Orange,

A new GPU would offer more noticeable performance changes. A new mobo wouldn't be that noticeable unless you're OCing and know the old mobo wasn't that good for OCing. If you do get a new mobo, then you might want to get a new CPU as well. So, wait instead until you can afford a CPU and mobo that offers significant performance increases - like going from a i3 to a i7, not a FX6100 to FX 6300. For now, a new GPU will be a better choice.

Build At the moment:
CPU: AMD FX-6100
RAM: Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600Mhz
MOBO: Asus M5A78L-M LX
GPU: Asus NVDIA Geforce 550Ti
PSU: Aerocool StrikeX 600W

Question:

1. I'm planning on Replacing my GPU the Asus Nvdia Geforce 550 Ti to ASUS GTX 760 DirectCU II OC 2GB 256bit,

will my Current Build in-terms of PSU/RAM/MOBO/CPU support the GPU: ASUS GTX 760 DirectCU II OC 2GB 256bit?

2. What would you suggest, should I replace my GPU first or Should I Replace my Mobo from Asus M5A78L-M LX to Asrock 990FX Extreme9.

note: I can only choose 1 option at the moment due to Budget reasons..., either the MOBO or the GPU.

with a new mobo you would gain usb 3. :)

I would say gpu first, having been through a similar situation. I actually still kinda wonder why I even bothered upgrading my mobo in the end. BTW i replaced the gpu months before I upgraded my mobo.
