Rx6900xt problems

vw07

Hello, I've been experiencing problems with my pc which i build around mid Dezember. My build contains an i5 12600kf, b660 gaming x, 16GB XFX Radeon RX 6900 XT SWFT319, 16GB (2x 8GB) G.Skill RipJaws V DDR4-4000 DIMM,

700 Watt be quiet! Pure Power 11 Non-Modular 80+ Gold (also tested with an 1000w platinum)

I have problems with games like csgo, osu! and tarkov, in csgo i have performance issues when streaming the game, in osu! my pc often crashes (restarts), mostly when i alt tab in or out of the game and with tarkov my gpu spikes to 92+%, not ingame, in the start menu of tarkov. I also experienced many idle crashes which also happen for no apparent reason, even though my pc handles stress tests like furmark or prime just fine. Im gonna add some pictures which may help, or may not help. At this point im at a loss for ideas. Any help would be great, if i missed out important information, please feel free to ask me.

Thanks in advance for help.

Have you tried updating your driver? I got a 7900XTX Nitro couple of weeks back and its running on drivers from 23.1.2 version (not full suite). So far, ive had issues with twitch streams and embedded video playback. Crashing Firefox and Chrome, Discord. Even YT is having low performance when using the scroll preview pane.
When gaming and having a stream in FF on the background, the frames drop considerably.
Most likely some conflict between Windows versions and AMD encoders. I was also hinted towards Multi Plane Overlay (MPO). Havent tried it yet myself but could give it a try.

Can you try to reset ram speed to base and test with that?

Depends on what game, but for the games i do play, i tend to average that what other people with a similar rig do

The weird part is where this keeps on happening with 1000W PSU. Those are classic signs of a overwhelmed PSU, but 1000W PSU being knocked out by 6900XT would be a first for me. I've never mated one with the Intel hungry CPUs though. If that 12600 can reach 200W then both can knock out even a 1000W psu during some transient spikes. Also, your score is way under what it should be. Check in BIOS if PCIe version isn't set to auto and set it to the highest possible. Also check the PCIe power states.

Edit:

Well went online and just checked that this 12600kf can reach 350W let alone 200W, so yeah, it's completely possible that both just knockout the PSU. When the GPU is unlocked to unfold its full potential the 6900XT can draw up to 883W/90μs.

Quote

2. The peak power consumption of 6900XT is 810W/80μs when the power consumption limit is not unlocked , and the average maximum power consumption is 307W. After unlocking, the peak power consumption is 883W/90μs and the average maximum power consumption is 357W. Does not exceed PCIE electrical specifications.

Plus the 350W from the CPU, here is a nice 1233W load for a couple of brief moments which exceeds the 120% load rating for the 1000W PSUs. Good thing i always built these things with 5800Xs and 5800X3Ds then.

As for the solution - try 1200/1300W Gold/Platinum rated PSU.

Here, this is the about the only useful thing i could find, btw after i rebuild the whole pc, i didnt encounter any more crashes, still doesnt feel entirely right though.9047FC63-A8E5-4C33-8A60-9A42A313326F.thumb.jpeg.45b4c92b64d8fad953aad153de9e9a97.jpeg

Nvm, found 2 options

cpu pcie link speed and pch pcie link speed, both were on auto, i put them on gen4, thats the highest option.

Well if the problem persists, just try more powerful PSU. I know it's hard to believe that 1kW is basically a standard supply for a normal gaming rig, but this is the world we live in today.
