This is somewhat a follow up to my previous post, but I felt it was different enough to warrant a different topic.

 

Previous Post

 

I have a small form factor server (HP Proliant Microserver G7) that originally had a loud Flex ATX PSU. I had a regular Corsair ATX PSU lying around and plugged it in and everything's working just fine. 

 

I'm a little nervous though. Is it dangerous to leave a PSU sitting outside of the case?

Cases are just mounts in a container. Everything's fine outside of it. My main PC ran out of a cardboard box for a good 2 months! You'll be good under the same conditions things are good in a case: as long nothing gets in there that shouldn't be there, you'll be fine!

I do have some pets that walk around sometimes. I'll put it in a closet or something.
