Windows 8 black screen after login..

Hey guys..

So I have a laptop and last night when I went to shutdown it said it was installing update like normal so I left it.. Went to turn it on this morning and everything was fine until I went to log in.

I put in my password, the screen goes black and I can only have my cursor.. I can press Ctrl all del.. And that works..

I can boot into safe mode.

On a different laptop I had I had a `user profile failed to load' error and had to go into regedit and change a few things.. Is this kinda the same thing?

Jump into recovery and do a system restore, see if that helps

I had the similar problem. Just when you open the task manager go to processes 7 terminate explorer.exe, then click on "file" menu & choose "New Task (Run...)", type explorer & hit the enter key on keyboard. It worked for me. I was lazy to solve this problem & just reinstalled my Windows.
