Hello,

I recently built my HTPC and I would like to perhaps game a bit on it. Here are the specs:

Gigabyte B85N 1150

Intel i5 4570

2 x 4 GBs Ballistix RAM

430 Watt Corsair Modular PSU

Coole Master Elite 110

I would like to ad a discrete GPU to the machine. I need a little one because the mobo and the case are mITX. I am looking at this card, EVGA 750Ti SC, in particular:

Would this card be good enough to game with console like settings? I know I am not going to max out Total War or BF4 (I pretty much play everything), but will it at least provide the graphical enhancements of the new gen consoles?

Thank you in advance to any and all help, suggestions and advice.

Johnny

Its a good card for 720p high 1080p medium settings but really depends on your budget, there are also mini 760s

EDIT: actually your case can fit a much bigger card in, so it really comes down to budget

Yes it should be enough to play any game at 1080p, I think it is the most powerful card without the need of a pci-e connector.

Main PC:

ASUS F1A55-M LX, AMD A6-3500, (2x2)gb Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1600mhz, Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7200rpm,
Corsair CX430M, Cooler Master Elite 343, Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

Netbook:

Lenovo Ideapad S10-2, Intel Atom N280, (1x1)gb DDR2 667mhz, WD Scorpio Blue 250gb 5400rpm, Zorin OS 9 Lite

It is more than enough to play on 1080p on medium to high settings with good fps

[AMD Athlon 64 Mobile 4000+ Socket 754 | Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro nForce3 | OCZ 2GB DDR PC3200 | Sapphire HD 3850 512MB AGP | 850 Evo | Seasonic 430W | Win XP/10]

Great, thanks!

I mainly built this as an HTPC, and that is what it is. I just thought it would be cool to do some casual gaming from the couch when I am too lazy to get up and go in the office :P. I love the fact that it is discrete and that it does not need a PCIe connector.

r7 265 and GTX 660 are two cards that outperforms the 750ti by about 15 to 20% and usualy cost about the same...you pay a premium for the very low power consumption of the 750ti,

that being said both the r7 265 and GTX660 would run great on this system you posted with this PSU it's good enough...for gaming at 1080p you should look at those cards

i suggested before you buy anything.

Some quick benchmarks just to give you an idea of performance:

R7 265 vs GTX 750ti

GTX 660 vs GTX 750ti

Also if your PSU does not have a PCI2 6 pin connector (wich would surprise me a lot) you can use the molex to PCIe adapter that will be included

in your new graphics card box to provide power to the card, it looks like this:
