What gtx 780 ti should I get to build a ITX build: A reference or a non-reference card? If non-reference, which cooler design?

Well because you are not gonna look at the card, you might as well go with any non-reference card. (the most appealing one to you) Oh, and i personally like the ASUS DCUII

ITX cases need all the cooling they can get, so I say get a reference cooler so all the hot air is blown out of the case.

A reference design is the most recommended for ITX builds. Out of curiosity what's the case you'll be using?

I'll be building my own case. Probably. If not, I'm going to use the Fractal Design node 304.

In a mini itx case its best to have the hot air exhausted out the back. The reference design does that while all non reference cards ejects hot air directly into the case.

Go with reference, you'll thank yourself later. After murmuring about how loud they are.

Good choice of ITX case, even if it's only your backup.

You'll want a reference card, those exhaust hot air at the back instead of into the case. Reference card will help keep the inside of the case cooler and it may be louder than an ACX cooler from EVGA or other aftermarket solutions, but it's not insane either. Look up noise tests on youtube to help you decide, noise is after all subjective.

The reference cards are decently quiet, especially on stock speeds and with lower fan curves so in an ITX build where a blower style cooler is probably better, it's a very viable option
