What's your usage ? Budget ? Why 1440p ?

I would pick Asus, it's at least an IPS and you are far less likely to go wrong with IPS than VA on a budget (neither of them seem to have a proper review but the Asus model got mention here, and from the spec, it appears to be IPS Asus XG32VC Review –32-Inch QHD Gaming Monitor with USB-C - Recommended (monitornerds.com)

 

IPS in general have a decent to great motion performance and excellent viewing angle which is the most noticeable properties on an LCD monitor (poor motion result in ghosting or smearing, poor viewing angle result in discolouring image at the edge of the screen)

 

VA in general have a good to exceptional contrast but unless it's the latter (1:4000 and above) you're unlikely to notice the different in most use case (although IPS do have exceptionally terrible contrast.) They do, however, have something between extremely poor to exceptional motion and viewing angle - and again, unless you went for the best of the best, it tends to be the former and those are flaws that are way more noticeable compare to IPS contrast.

 

Is there any better options? Yes - LG 27GN850, Gigabyte M28Q and MSI Optix are generally the go to choice for a midrange, high performance monitors. They are all 27 inches though but arguably a more suitable size at 1440p

It is would be used for gaming. Mostly competitive games but some non competitive games and media consumption (the slower response time with va has never really effected me. I’ve been using one for nearly 3 years) budget would be about $400 USD

I've never had anything above 1080p and I just recently upgraded my setup so I wanted to try out a 1440p monitor

the asus is a good monitor.

 

The g5, well, there are multiple g5s, most of them bad, wouldnt use them for anything.

Go for Asus.

Samsung Odyssey series only good start from G7.
