My future life project

I am going to be a game designer (more specifically a level designer) and this is what my goal in life is from the education I receive.

Alright so this is going to be my life project. It's going to be a military FPS based in the WW1 or WW2 era. The engine I have yet to decide. The campaign will be hyper realism, if there is a campaign. The multiplayer will be both hyper realism and the traditional FPS settings per say. Weapons will include EVERY weapon of the time period, including guns, vehicles, and equipment. Maps would be European based.
Instead of the traditional perk system like CoD and the system that is in Battlefield, instead it will have experience points and categories, similar to that of Fallout 3 and NV. Categories would be for example ; stamina , aviation, Strength, agility, dexterity and a bunch others.
At the beginning of multiplayer, players would pick a beginner soldier that specializes in a particular situation ; pilot would begin with a higher aviation level but lower strength for example.
In the multiplayer hyper realism mode, there will be no killstreaks.
In "normal" multiplayer, there would be killstreaks although I don't know what they would be. Game modes would be the traditional team deathmatch, domination oriented, CTF, WAR (from cod5) , warfare( explanation later) and a few others. Teams (names) would be map dependent and the team you are on would determine the weapons you can use ( if you are on Germany you may only use German weapons unless you loot for dead soldier on opposing team.) You can steal vehicles (also team based).
Warfare would be a hyper reality exclusive and you would only have a certain amount of materials like bullets and medical gear along with a certain amount of reinforcements.
That's all I could think of while in school but when I get home I'll start remembering the rest.

Cool that you have an idea in mind. May I suggest:

Campaign is a must

Do not use the traditional game modes, innovate in the FPS world. Just look at the hype Titanfall got for innovating.

not enough good fps's with a great story mode! i would say story #1 priority then multiplayer!!! also agree with the above comment find something new and cool inovate!

clearly stated there will separation between realism and "normal" in which normal would have streams and realism wouldnt.

Love the goal.  But I am more curious as what you plan to do to reach that goal.

You should definitely check out the Extra Credits youtube channel they talk about games/game design and I think some of the content there would help you, great idea though!

I mean have a backup plan for after you finish the game or get tired of it.  I don't know how old you are, but you'll need something else to do.

ohhh im 17 at the moment, but idk when i go to college im sure ill be making other things. this would be more of a background project.

I understand but that's like combining Arma and CoD.... It doesn't matter who it pleases, mixed communities in the same game would eventually take it's toll.

Imo you are going bit ambiguous on personal project level. But if you manage to find team to do it... That synopsis sound like old BF2 mod Forgotten Hope 2. If you don't mind gfx and other limitations of BF2 game engine.

If you're only going to be a level designer then you're going to need more people to help you. Some people are fortunate enough be good at everything, but a lot of us just don't have that ability.

You could hire a visionnary give him 10% profits and you'd get more.

Only there's no way to pre-prove you're one.

Is this your first bigger project or have you done other things before?

I wouldn't start off with something so huge and complex because chances are you're gonna get frustrated in the process of making it and then just quit programming.
