Converting from 5800x3d > 7800x3d build [Pls Help]

pilgr1mag3

1. Budget & Location

My max budget is $2000, this is the initial 5800x3d build.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fdnKmr
it cost me $1550 here with the estimated $150 on PSU i havent decided

2. Aim

120++ FPS on open world cpu based gaming like tarkov.

3. Monitors:

Migrating to 1440p from 1080.

[
The only thing i'm sure i'm gonna get are the 7800x3d chip, mostly AMD card because its more value, decent motherboard Hardware Unboxed said is good, 2x16gb DDR5 RAM. $2000 budget

My questions are:

1. Will 7800x3d bottleneck 6950xt? Any other value options on a better GPU that is safe for another 4-5years of usage?
2. Are 6000mhz is overkill for games? Or do i need to get it to insure for the next 4-5 years?
I saw a benchmark video of DDR4 3600 Mhz and lower>mid DDR5 RAM dont actually gives significance increase on FPS

3. Should i just get 6950 xt over 6800 xt for 1440p gaming?

*Please note that all will be in stocked, i've never tune anything before.
All suggestions on value build for a 4-5years lifespan are welcome and much appreciated. Thank you.

Hopefully. You always want your CPU ahead of the GPU, when the CPU chokes that's when you get stuttering/frame drops.

Faster RAM does help in games. You'll hit diminishing returns above a certain speed, I haven't dived into DDR5 benchmarks to see if it starts hitting a wall before or after 6000Mhz. If it isn't outrageously expensive vs something like 5600Mhz, I'd go for it.

Nope. Unless you're going for benchmarking scores, manual OCing on modern platforms isn't needed, and will usually cause more trouble than it's worth.

Keep in mind using the NH-D15 will require the AM5 mounting hardware. Noctua does offer it for free provided you upload proof of purchase of both the cooler and motherboard. This happened to me using my NH-D15 on AM4 and I bought another cooler temporarily until the mounting hardware came as Noctua won't give it to you willingly. Corsair RM850x would be sufficient or even a RM1000x. You can buy it on Amazon here if you cannot wait.

We don't even know how well the 7800X3D will perform as they have not released and we are still waiting for third-party reviews.

I think the graphics card will be a bigger bottleneck than the CPU. For 1440 and high refresh rates, a 6900XT/6950XT or higher is where I'd recommend unless you plan on upgrading in 2 years again.

No improvements yet right now as DDR5 has just entered the consumer platform market. They consider it the "sweet spot" for Ryzen on AM5 though.

Just keep everything stock as you overclocking nowadays brings minimal performance gains are AMD/Intel are factory overclocking (essentially). If you feel the need to gain slightly more performance, enabling PBO (Performance Boost Overdrive) will give you 5-10% more performance but these chips are already pretty fast. Actually, you probably wouldn't be able to PBO on a X3D chip due to the cache and AMD never gave that option to the 5800X3D. Only performance gains you will see is on the graphics card but that too is already limited in performance gains due to algorithms that control clock speeds.

It doesn't really work that way. It works in reverse where you can have too slow of a CPU to allow your GPU to work to its fullest potential but too fast of a CPU isn't a thing. You want the limiting factor in game performance to be the GPU, not the other way around. In that case all you need to increase performance is a larger budget for a faster GPU.

If you want to be in the sweet spot and you're intention is to do it right, DDR5-6000 w/ EXPO would be ideal.

Depends on your existing ability to navigate a BIOS and follow directions. On some boards, my experience being with Asrock's X670E Taichi, there is a simple preset for an 85c temp limit and -40mV undervolt using Curve Optimizer that works incredibly well. Faster and cooler than stock. I have a 7900x build for some context.

Thanks for the info. In the old days like 2010's, theres a lot more people tuning their PC, good to know its kind of irrelevant for gaming purpose nowadays

the 6900's might be tight for my budget, but i think i could consider. PowerColor red devil is actually $725 here.. I live in Indonesia and I don't think we have that kind of service especially on imported brands. but that's good to know, thank you

for a 5y lifespan, would it be worth to go for the 6950 xt? or even 7900 XTX?

i'm not that hardcore gamer who needs ultra settings on 120+ fps.. i'm fine with medium settings but with stable fps while gaming.

Both are very powerful cards and a 7900xtx will last longer at your expected graphical quality however, if you're sticking to say 1440p, a 6950xt will carry you very far.

with 6950 xt. would you prefer a 4k monitor? and perhaps Nvidia GPU for the DLSS options?

I don't think i could get a 4k monitor on my budget, sorry for lack of research

You might even consider a used 6900 if you want to save money, but just gotta be careful of ones used for crypto mining.
