So over the past several years my dad has used gps data off work photo's to tell us which system came from what address.  I always assumed that posting those photo's to social media would scrub that data however I just made a status update with a photo taken from a customers house, downloaded it again and the location data is there.

My question being.... Is this just something that LTT doesn't do on their forum or does no one do it?  I was just assuming these thing's and haven't tried to test it out, figured a post would be easier than going to various social media platforms and sniffing for data.

Some sites probably do it, but I wouldn't rely on it and make sure to remove the EXIF information myself before uploading photos anywhere.

A lot of social media sites end up doing it for photos...or at least gives you an option.

Discord for example does remove EXIF information (and I think they might have started doing it for videos...not 100% sure though, at least in the past they didn't though)

Twitter removes it (I believe it was around the time that Adam Savage got tracked by a photo he posted)

Instagram removes EXIF

Facebook removes EXIF

I do agree with you it's still a good rule of thumb to remove it before though.

I probably should've said that big well-known sites likely do it all. Sites like this one that aren't primarily intended to share your daily life less so.

This appears to be bug and has been reported to IPS.

It seams that it's only my own photo's? Maybe the data isn't available to other people? Unless I'm the only person that doesn't scrub his photo's?

Feel free to check. I don’t scrub and I should have locations on.

Yeah, it's gotta be something to where your own photo's keep the data for you cause yours doesn't have location data but I'm certain if you download it from here it'll be there

Maybe it scrubbed before download, based on who's downloading it.
