Reinstalling Windiws

This may seem (or even be) a stupid question but I'm a mac person and I'm new to windows.

Lets say my computer isn't working correctly. If I wanted to reinstall windows 8 on a drive that already has windows 8.1 and all its drivers, programs and games, would I lose all the data?

Yes, you would lose all data.

With windows 8, there is a feature that allows you to keep all files, it will ask you if you want to do a complete install or install keeping current files.
