Is this a scam? eBay

Hi, I just sold a watch on ebay for 250 euro in united kingdom. The seller has 0 sells and buys and the account is brand new. Created today.
He bought the wrist watch and sent me a message: "Hello, I have checked properly, and I like the item. As it is, I am buying it as a gift and I want to make the payment . Kindly contact me at *********@gmail.com with the pictures and recent details of the item with the item numbers so i can make payment. Kind Regards"
I have no idea about ebay.. But this is a scam.. Right?
I mean i can send the invoice with 1 click, that's not the problem, but why he doesn't have it automatically?
Maybe I will call ebay tomorrow...?

Don't accept payment through any platform other than eBay. It's a classic scam.

I assume there were pics and details on the posting. Assuming it was an auction, I'd respond saying
"you have won the auction and the item is yours pending payment. If you fail to pay in a timely manner this will be a strike on your record

when they ghost you, just cancel for non-payment and either relist or there may be a way to offer it to second highest bidder

Very obviously a scam. Only accept payment, or messages, through eBay.

Cancel his bid and relist.

 

As a side note, if you're going to list something online, the onus is entirely on you to know what you're doing. No one else. You not knowing how eBay works, when you've decided to use the platform, is no one's fault but your own.

I mean, there is limited documentation on lots of stuff and the feature names can be somewhat esoteric. We're a fine place to come double check a gut feeling.
