Why cant i overclock my ram to 3200 mhz trident z rgb 16 gb?

Hello i use a ryzen 1600 cpu and i just turned on xmp to profile 1 in bios on my gigabyte ax370 gaming k5 but the memory did not increase, am i doing something wrong ? is my cpu capable of handling the ram oc, please help as im new

Download CPU-Z, go to the SPD tab and check which speed profile 1 of your sticks has. Maybe also check the Memory tab to see current speed.

 

Note the CPU-Z shows actual rather than effective clock speed. So if it shows ~1600 MHz, then your RAM is running at 3200 MT/s.
