So basically, looking on Ebuyer, the M500 is hugely cheaper per GB than the Samsung Evo.

So basically, I'm wondering if there's a noticeable difference between the performance (I'll be using it for storing a few of my favourite games, or possibly just Star Citizen, depending on how big that is. :P ).

Also, is there's much of a difference in reliability?

Essentially, is it worth the significant extra cost? Or is there even another SSD I should be considering instead?

All help is very welcome, thanks in advance.

evo is what i would go for.

but if you are on a tight budget, get the m500. it wont be that much of a difference.

i just like samsungs approach with manufcaturing all themselves and its a little faster too.

look at what @RatedBlam said.

Just get m500. EVO maybe faster on paper (due to tricks like turbowrite) but in real life you won't notice the difference, so go with the cheaper option.

What size are you going for? IIRC the 120gb m500 is pretty slow, but it gets better with higher capacities.

But both should still be a fast experience

Actually, its not. Although write speeds seem low, they are just as low as EVO write speeds (but EVO is using turbowrite to fool people :))

Well if anandtech is to Trust the m500 240gb used more nand and is faster because of that

Yeah its faster, but only in write workload.

But thats the case with any ssd anyway (larger ssds have more dies, which means better write speed, since write speed is much slower than read).

You won't see a difference in speed by any of them but I personally like Samsung because their ssd's are really reliable in my personal experience but crucials are really pretty cheap for the GB but are really unreliable

You really don't have to pull such bullshit outta your a**. It nowhere near true.

Crucials are pretty reliable, just like other manufactures. Remember, they are sharing their fabs with intel, so you know you're getting quality :)

m500, because it's using higer endurance flash (3000 p/e vs 1000 p/e in EVO).

If its that much cheaper, than its a no brainer. Dont listen to fanboys :)
