Is it still possible to get a dumb TV?

nightmarevoid

The security issues associated with smart TVs is concerning to me, not to mention many of them are frustratingly limited in their smart capabilities. So I was wondering, is it still possible to get TVs that are just a good panel? I'd rather pay for a good panel and image processor over a smart TV subsidized by the sale of my data. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

yes it is possible what are u wanting in this non smart tv 1080p  4k ?

Ideally 4k. If it has gaming features like freesync or G-sync even better, but I feel like it's impossible to find that in a non-smart TV.

I found a good website that has all the best tvs https://www.makeuseof.com/best-dumb-tvs/

Hey thanks for the help! I'll show these to my partner and see what she thinks. I don't really have a budget yet, I just wanted to know That what I was looking for still existed, and you've really helped with that.

One option is commercial displays from companies like Samsung and NEC. These normally don't have any smart features, but some commercial feataures like serial for control.

Every smart TV turns into a dumb TV if you simply do not connect it to the internet. They all need you to manually connect to your network before any of them can steal your data. And the simple reality nowadays is that every good TV is also a smart TV. So don't try to find a dumb TV that also looks good. Just find a good TV and never connect it to the internet if you're concerned about privacy.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

This is a "smart" move. Just skip anything related to login when you turn on the tv.

Some of the last good quality consumer “dumb” displays are projectors, but that's starting to change too.

Most TV get suitably 'dumber' when they are not connected to the internet. So for security its a simple solution, dont connect it to the internet.

However for outright 'dumb' TVs the 'dumbest' also usually end up being the worst because they are 'cheap' and are 'dumb' because the manufacturer cut corners with the TVs 'brain' alongside other things ..importantly the panel itself.

If you want a truly dumb TV but with a good panel, your best bet is to just get a large format monitor. At 40-43 inches, you can even get OLED these days but it will cost you a lot more than just the OLED TV.

LCD 43 inches option can be good and fairly affordable though, and because it is a monitor, it should have all of the gaming features with none of the TV funtionality other your external TV device.

My set up is currently exactly like that, I used Aorus FV43U which is a TV for all intent and purpose without the actual TV component (I connect it to Chromecast anythough)
