DpatsPc

Just curious as I like the look. I am very new and would like to know if it's possible and if so how to verticle mount my GPu. Thank you to everyone that helps.

You'll need a riser cable, a case that will support vertical mount gpus and possibly a bracket if one didn't come with your case.

What case?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

You can vertical mount any GPU provided there's enough room in the case and you have the appropriate raiser adapter and mount.

Thermals is another question.

Step one is to look at the case.

Some already support vertical mounting due to how the motherboard is positioned, or they have been made with vertical mounting in mind.

And if not, it still depends on whether there is room in your case for a vertical mounting. So what case are you using.

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

You need a case that lets you vertically mount your gpu. You will also need a gpu riser cable.

Well not sure a 3050 is worth investing a riser cable in... 😛

Hmm, are you in it for the aesthetics then? Because it's bit overkill for the "lowest" tier of the 3000 generation.

Mind you, that is a fair plan if that's what is important to you. Just be aware you may sacrifice raw performance for style.

I'm just saying they exist. Not sure who it's for but if it's on fire sale, could be a good buy for someone. You could even argue a good buy for those content creators that make glamour builds all the time. Use a "cheap" 3050 and pose it as a 3070 on the basis the cooler looks exactly the same anyways with the only card specific branding being the RTX logos. No longer do you have the 50,60,70,80 branding plastered everywhere.

Heck even the 6650XT I picked up recently has a half decent looking cooler than one may want to show off. And this was by accident because it was the only card decently priced at the time that was in stock.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to wait until I upgrade the GPU to go to vertical. It was basically just because I really like how it looks in the case with a vertical gpu. Now any suggestions on what I should upgrade to. I purchased a msi codex RS 11th-056us.

I'm completely new to pc and I received the msi codex rs 11th-056us as a Christmas gift from the wife. So any suggestions on upgrades or anything in general is greatly appreciated 🙂

LOL, I'm sorry, I thought you were OP, the colors in your profile pics for some reason seemed similar to me.

I personally prefer some clean closed cases so the look of the card is not so important to me, compared to size and noise 🙂

Ahh, so you already have the complete build, but wanna see if you can change the GPU position?

Yea it's all personal preference. But the good thing nowadays is that if looks is something you do care about, it's not like before where you have to go for the top of the line components. A fairly decent looking system can be had for far less than before. Even the current Intel stock cooler looks nice even if it's only good for the lower end i3s and i5s.

That uses one of the Mag Forge 100 cases which don't support vertical mount GPU out of the box. You can get universal adapters that will use the "sideways" PCIE slots on the case and add a pair of vertical slots for your graphics card.

https://www.newegg.com/phanteks-ph-vgpukt-02-black/p/N82E16811984028

https://pcpartpicker.com/b/zvdmP6

It's doable. Since your computer came with an air cooler, I would pull the GPU out and hold it vertically in front of the PCIE brackets on the case just to make sure you're not going to hit the air cooler.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

If it runs fine now, why bother? There will always come something better around on a later date.

I'm not familiar with the case so I can't give good input specifically on that.
