Recommended Games for Windows 2000?

Vishera

So my high end 2011 nostalgia PC has Windows 2000/Windows 7/ Windows 10 in triple boot on it.

Now i am looking for games to play on Windows 2000,

The hardware is overkill for Windows 2000 games so it will run anything without problems.

It can even run The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt at 35 FPS 1080p on Windows 7 and 10.

So please recommend me some good games for WIN2K :D

Unreal Tournament 1999 is my go-to. Although fair warning, it runs worse on newer hardware.

Thanks!, I will try that.

I thought that it's newer OSes and not the hardware itself that cause this kind of performance issues with some older games.

It runs better on my first gen i5 laptop's integrated graphics (a common laughingstock of iGPU performance) than my GTX 980 Superclocked. Both Windows 10, same resolution.

I hope it will run better for me on WIN2K.

What average FPS did you get on both?

On the iGPU I got a pretty constant 60fps on max settings.

On GTX 980 I got well over 450 but with frequent framedrops and multiple-second-long freezes every few seconds, making it unplayable.

MissionForce: CyberStorm....if you are into turn-based giant mech combat

Don't forget the endless versions of Simcity

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Sounds familiar, just cap the frame rate to 300 or something like that and you should see a significant improvement.

Resident Evil 1 2 & 3 originals.

Internet archive has patched builds compatible with more modern hardware and even mod support. The games are abandonware and no company makes money off them anymore.

Turok 1 & 2 though we have updated versions on Steam and GOG.

5800X 4720mhz fixed OC 6900XT -75mv, 2600mhz 1440P 165hz

So i got the game from GOG and everything is smooth on max settings, though i have no clue how much FPS i get because the MSI Afterburner overlay doesn't work in this game.

I think i will get the remake of Resident Evil 1 from 2002, the original is more like a Windows 95 game than 2000 😄

  • Age of Empires 2
  • Half Life 2
  • GTA Vice City & San Andreas
  • Diablo 2

Though without DOS you might miss out on some other epic games from around that time, eg like Fallout 1 & 2.

Windows 2000 has a translation layer for DOS applications and games so DOS games work.

I already have Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem 3D installed on the machine, I also have The Elder scrolls Daggerfall.

I think some of the early call of duty games are for Windows 2000.

Another fun game is called Lego rock raiders.

Some classic Lego games in addition to rock raiders are:

Bionicle,

Lego creator

Lego Island 2 (actual game. The first is just mini games)

That's all I know off the top of my head.
