why LGA-1151 and not LGA-1700

cuz both (not including Epic, threadripper, and xeon) now use LGA-1700 and does this include 12th gen and under?

No. This is dumb, and the opinion of anybody who would be willing to give such a simplistic answer isn't worth anything.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Don't just ask a simple A or B, then expect people to explain things.  Read the forums, follow Youtube videos, etc.  Learn by doing research.  Asking questions is nice, but do so for clarity.

Not just which is better.   That doesn't tell anything.

I figured I'd get the majority of tech-smart peoples opinion. That is all this poll is meant to be. This poll doesn't decide anything, it is not meant to compare every scenario or every pro and con.

They are staggered. If i build today. Intel is probably the winner....depening how much I care about heat and thermal. Wait until after CES with x3d variants and AMD is on top....but more expensive. Then wait until after summer and intel is again on top but at that point amd is cheeper again.

It is a wonderfull time we are in where both teams have great option and we can prioritize what is important to us....or just don't care because both are good and which one have the edge is just a matter of when you buy it.

But it did actually represent it quite good. People think amd is better on thremals and power right now and it was a 50/50 split on both performance and price (now favoring amd more which is actually a bit supprising, thought intel would have the edge). Which is all good

For starters you can learn what TDP means. Hint: it isn't power consumption.

The questions I'd find impossible to answer as it depends on interpretation and will vary throughout the CPU ranges, as well as a ton of other factors. You might as well ask if a red car is better than a blue car.

These ARE considerations.  ANytime you qualify or caveat a poll, you're taking them into account and making the poll question invalid.

This is just a bad way to go about it.

It's hard to give a good answer to a bad question if the respondent is left wondering about intent.

For example, you say "high end CPUs non-server". Do you mean the current high end? The current generation in general? Specifically 13900k vs 7950X? In that case, say so! Not Intel vs AMD, which you could argue would include Threadripper Pro. They're not server either, and are certainly high end.

I fixed the question.

Hope I didn't sound rude...I didn't mean to. To answer your question, I believe Intel holds the upper hand with the very high end CPU market. However, in my experience, AMD (usually) provides a better value in the low-mid range market. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong...

I can't say what is better or worse, but I can say that I went AMD because 16 normal cores is likely to be easier to work with for virtualisation then 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores.

The motherboard officially supporting an eco-mode was also a factor because I wanted to use an air cooler and make sure it lasts a while.
