Middle mouse button

Askew

I use my middle mouse button a hell of a lot more than my right, and it's in competition with the left click. :o

It clicks/drags to scroll, it opens links in a new tab, it closes tabs when you click anywhere on the tab (don't have to left click the X ;)) I find myself doing these things more than anything else other than left click at the moment, only just come to realise that my middle mouse button is my favourite non left button.

Made a poll to see if people use middle more than right.

WOW. This is crazy to me, because I NEVER use my middle mouse, I don't even know what it does.

Those moments where you see a link on a page, and you want to click it but don't want to leave this page yet, those are the times when middle mouse is the way forward.

I don't even think about using it when opening and closing tabs. It just happens.

Fairly close, I've had this mouse for about two weeks, so I assume the difference would grow over time.

That's what my more easily accessible side buttons do anyway, and even then I'd just do right-click open in new tab anyhow.

Ah if you have a button assigned to that that's different, I couldn't really ask that because not everyone has multi button mice.

But right click/open in new tab is 2 clicks! here is an uneccessarily sexy reaction gif. ^_^

For those who don't open links in a new tab with middle click, the answer is obvious. They will use right click more.

For those who do use the new tab function, it simply depends on how much web browsing they do.

The middle button is not as useful in gaming. The only use of it for me is to switch between primary weapon and handgun. But I found myself using it a lot when I'm not gaming. My only complain is that my mouse makes a LOUD click noise when I click on the middle button.

Almost the opposite here, i've been playing alot of TF2 and Borderlands 2 recently, and the middle mouse is used extensively in both, in TF2 it's used to switch to secondary weapon/auto sapper, and Borderlands it's my melee, add that to my fondness of opening 90% of webpages in new tabs and it gets used alot xD

I would say of my last four mice, two have been replaced due to faulty scroll wheels that i put down to my heavy use of middle click, so meh.

I use my middle mouse a TON. I mainly use it for scrolling through stuff really quickly and opening/closing new tabs. With all the fancy keyboard shortcuts, I hardly ever use my right mouse button anymore, except in gaming.

Old shit no one cares about but me.
