Which Processor Should I Upgrade To?

(My FPS sits at around 40 with my 1%s at 20 when playing Minecraft 1.8.9 in the Skyblock Hub when using Badlion Client, and Optifine, and the most minimal settings you have ever seen.)

(If I am playing Bedwars, my fps is an unstable 110 with the 1%s at 20)

(Along with the best free Windows 10 FPS Booster the Internet has to offer.)

(I do get a lot of stutter if I don't use V-Sync. Is there any way to fix this using software?)

Before you read anything else, I only play Minecraft so no need for a faster GPU. (Not that I would be able to install one anyway. Since my pc is a Laptop in a box.)  Don't tell me to get a new computer. Also, assume that I do not want to spend more than $200 USD. (That number is somewhat flexible) I've done several minor upgrades so far, such as an extra 4GB of RAM, Two SSDs, and a new wifi card. I've made a spreadsheet of all the T-series (No pun intended) processors that fit in my socket type. Along with their TDP, Graphics, Benchmark Score, Price, and something else that I can't remember right now. Information is from cpubenchmark.net. This file is included. The T-series processors (No pun intended), are typically more expensive than their standard versions, and sacrifice performance to achieve their 35W TDP. To cut costs, and up performance more, could I change the power supply, Jerry rig a better CPU cooler, and upgrade to a standard CPU instead of a T-series processor? Please list more than one CPU suggestion, including the Max TDP, Score from cpubenchmark.net, and price. Good Luck! - Take my memes

Hp EliteDesk 800 G2 mini

Motherboard: Default

CPU Socket: LGA-1151

CPU: i5-6500T (The "T" suffix means "Power Optimized" according to Intel. Which means none of the "T" series processors exceed 35W TDP.)

iGPU: Intel HD Graphics 530

OS: Windows 10 Pro (My processor isn't supported for Windows 11, how bad would it be if I installed it anyway?)

Cooling: Active cooling, default fan. (Actually keeps it below 80C if I turn off thermal throttling and playing Minecraft at max FPS)

RAM: 2x 4GB SODIMM DDR4 (Dual Channel I think) (Also the ram is not original and I don't know the speeds off hand)

SSD 1 (OS): Saberent Rocket 128GB M.2 PCIE 3.0

SSD 2 (Used 100% for compressed memory for no reason don't judge me): Samsung 128GB 2.5 Inch something

Power supply: The external one that came with it

Wifi: Some Intel laptop wifi card that makes my pc look like a router because of the antennae.

Nothing is worth the money and will make a noticeable increase in performance.

Also minecraft maxes out hd 530 no sweat open gpuz or something and youll see you are at 100%

Simply put you need a new pc if you want to see actual performancr gains.

The price of your jerry rig upgrades is basically halfway to a way better pc new and used you might almost be there.

Since Minecraft make use of Multi-threading. I disagree. Minecraft requires almost no graphics. And could you elaborate on line 2?

Most of the games are GPU bottle necked. You don't need to download a tool to tell you, just open Task manager and see what get used when you are gamming.

Especially you are using a iGPU with limited and slower VRAM, which Minecraft will need to render the world. That also explains your studder and low 1% fps.

I already knew that my iGPU was bad and was at 100% 99% of the time. But thank you! I am trying to respectfully tell you that your second line makes sense. But everything I tried sounded sarcastic. lol

Also, somebody above said that Minecraft maxes out at Intel HD Graphics 530, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Minecraft absolutely can max out any iGPU, even more advanced ones like on Ryzen 5600G which are designed for simple 3D games.

But HD Graphics 530? These are basic iGPU designed for watching videos and such. They are simply not designed for 3D rendering with textures.

Minecraft may look simple, it's just blocks right? But when you consider how many blocks you have to render AT THE SAME TIME it quickly stacks up.

And since it is an IGPU, it fights with you CPU for memory bandwidth. Each time you move, the iGPU have to ask for CPU, which goes to ram to fetch texture data... two foot in one shoe...

Matter of fact, Minecraft RTX can bring top end graphics cards to its knees.

And the kicker? Upgrading your CPU will give you almost no improvement.

Intel HD 530 and 630 are basically the same... at best you get 2-3fps improvement on average.

Save the money and see if can get a secondhand PC will be much better return for your money.

Wow, well when you explain it like that... But what about this video? I can barely play vanilla 1.19 at extremely low settings on badlion client with optifine. (I have HD graphics 530)

Wait....this is 1.8.9 I don't know how much fps I get on that. I'll do more research

Hey so heads up but userbenchmark is kinda a site filled with bs and bias.

The tool is also noe 15 years old and at a point where modern gpus and cpus are getting too fast for it to be even close to reliable anymore.

Also that 35% difference basically means you'll get 4 more fps. Its basically from bad to also bad.

Minecraft is still mainly a single core game to this day. Thats how its coded especially java. So more cores wont help you much if at all.

Also I see you compared to a 8500t? Your pc only supports 6th and 7th gen cpus. Intel used the same socket twice and 100 and 200 series boards support 6th and 7th gen (this pc will most likely not do 7th gen due to no bios update for it) and 300 and 400 series boards for 8th abd 9th gen.

Minecraft absolutly can max out the hd 530 graphics you said so yourself. hd 530 and hd 630 are very basic gpus meant for media consumption and office use they are really bad at even basic games and in t series stuff are even weaker.

Now say you get thr best cpu (6700k, 100$), a good cooler that fits (50$), a new psu + adapter cables (80$). You are well on the eay to a used older but capablr gaming pc that will be FAR better. As these upgrades I described eill get you basically no extra performancr for the investment.

Don't trust UserBenchmark. Their numbers are not consistent, and they manipulate the test numbers however they whated, mainly to make Intel look faster than AMD.

They got banned on both Intel and AMD sub-Reddis because of their manipulative practice, openly calling any reviewer showing contradictory data "AMD propaganda".

Getting a better CPU is it's like putting racing tires on a shitty car.

With 100 USD, you can buy a secondhand graphics card GTX 970 which wipes floor with these iGPU. I understand your system don't even have a slot for it, but the point is ,you can use the money go get a better secondhand computer that supports graphics card, then you can use whatever left getting say a gtx 760 or something, anything is better than getting a new CPU

Can you use an external graphics card from two usb ports to double the bandwidth with custom software?

To use an external graphics card, you will need Thunderbolt.

USB don't work that way, it maybe two ports, inside its connected to the same USB controller. I am not going to get on the difference between USB, PCIe, Thunderbolt and their protocals. These can't be overcome with "custom software".

I will say don't brother even upgrading it. It's like patching up a broken balloon. Sure, it will hold air, but why not just get a good balloon instead.

You better off getting a secondhand PC and upgrade it.

I say upgrade the CPU and get something like a GTX960 or an RX 550 that way the CPU doesn't have to use its integrated graphics. They go for about  100USD brand new and maybe even lower if you scower around eBay for a few minutes. It should let you play Minecraft with a better framerate at maybe decent settings.

Also try updating drivers for the 620 Integrated graphics. I'm almost certain though that the 6500T isn't suported anymore so maybe just try getting the latest (and most likely last) driver for it.

That is what we were saying in the previous posts.

The elephant in the room is that PC is a mini desktop. Like a MacMini, there is really no upgrade path...
