Is this a logical upgrade path?

Hi all, just want some affirmation here.

I will be upgrading from z370/8700/16gb ddr4 3200mhz

To B650/7600x/32gb ddr5 5200

Is this a valid upgrade in your opinion? I had my 8700 for 5/6 years and its great, I just kinda wanna upgrade. But not sure if 8700-7600x makes sense.

I can always go to another am5 processor later down the line.

My only real gripe with it is the price of b650 motherboards.

Whats the problem with the 8700? If it's a k try ocing for a bit more performance.

Id honestly wait for the new x3D amd stuff or new intel stuff. As currently am5 is way overpriced for what it offer and 13th gen is far more good for the money also more performant.

Also dont bother with ddr5 unless you go 6000+. Its quite slow for what it is and can be seen as the same classes of first gen ddr4 2133-2666mhz. Not something you wanna use in a later system.

I think you're better off going intel right now. 7600x isn't worth the price of entry for AM5, with its gratuitous mobo and memory costs. Get a 13700k, pair it with a cheap ddr4 board, reuse your ram. When you get some extra money and prices drop, get a better ddr5 board and ram.

I agree with @JT89. I'd just do what he suggested, and upgrade to DDR5 in 2 generations when it's had a real chance to mature. The performance differences aren't that great. By then, Direct Storage will be a thing and it'll be smarter to get a new board, SSD, etc to take advantage of what it offers.
