So im building a rig and spent some time gathering all the parts i am going to use. I am going to liquid cool but first i will only air cool so i can make sure everything works. then after if i feel comfortable with everything i will add the Liquid cooling.

im only cooling the CPU to keep it simple.

I am concerned with the tubing and compression fittings. Not sure if i got the right ones BUT i think i have lol.

also as seen i have a CPU cooler as well as a water block because i will be air cooling first wile i wait for some of the water cooling parts to come.

Thanks to anyone in advance who takes the time to go though the parts :)

Budget is about 3.5k but im yet to buy the Monitors. still looking.

its all going in a corsair 900d case and its primarily for Work with 3d applications (maya, zbrush etc) BUT i want it to have the capability to play games thus not getting a Quadro GPU.

yep forgot to ad those to the main thread lol Ive edited it now. thanks for the heads up :) i no allot of people have said that but ive done allot of research in preventing things going wrong with water cooling. i definitely will not be rushing to get the rig completed i will take my time with it as to not get set up incorrectly.

in that case take at look at what i linked and over time set up a loop the x60 is good start and will keep the 4930k cool and the h440 is also good for water cooling if you do make the change

ok for cpu 4930k if your going 2011 and a quad core cpu thats just dumb you may as well go 1155 or 1150

motherboard as much as the deluxe boards are marketed as "workstation" board their far from it its recommended a better board this one

or

other then that its fine sadly i cant help you with the water cooling because its a whole new thing for me

The only reason I'm going for 2011 is cause it as far as I seen they allow up to 64gb of ram and eventually I will upgrade to that amount for work.

As for the motherboard even though it's a work station will it still work okay when it comes to gaming?

there isnt any requirements for a "gaming motherboard" thats why ROG is a load of sh*t but yea it will be fine

also dont water cool your first pc ALLOT can go wrong from lack of experience

Did a full custom loop in my first PC, worked out fine in the end but oh boy, I sure as hell broke a sweat. The truth is that there's a first time for everything though, and even if he had built an air- or AIO -cooled rig before, there's always going to be a first time for watercooling. I recommend building the PC first using the stock coolers (which is what he's going to do anyways, if I read that correctly), getting everything up and running and then watching a ton of tutorials on youtube and reading threads about WCing, before you go about actually doing it. It's not rocket science, but you do need to be careful.

i know but i still recommend building a few more pcs in the future so you have more experience before jumping into the deep end :P

There so much I wish to comment on this but my mind isn't with it currently. The only suggestion I can offer is ditching the DDC pump and replace it with the D5. It's proven to be more reliable and a great performer. You can buy the stock cooler if you wish, but it's abit of a waste of money seeing as you will only use it for a very short period. For my WC rig I set it all up, done a leak test for 48hours, than powered up the motherboard and installed windows without having to take the stock cooler off and put on my water block. I will edit this on and off once I read more of your rig an comments.

D5 pump: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_160_296&products_id=17662

Fitting Suggestions:

I don't understand the sizing of the fittings 16/10..I have no idea what that equates to. Is that that 3/8 ID 5/8 OD? If it isn't than your tubing will not be compatible with those fittings, you'll need fittings with the sizes 3/8 ID 5/8 OD. For my rig I chose the 1/2 ID 3/4 OD, it's slightly thicker but I wanted the extra water flow. I also think the 3/8 ID 5/8 OD tubing tends to look too thin, somewhat out of proportion to the other parts in ones build.

Fans and Radiator:

Please don't be offened, but those fans are hideously slack in performance. When one is looking for fans that provide great performance in terms of airflow, you need a fan with a high CFM rating or (Cubic Feet per Minute), so in a sense the amount of air the fan pushes through it's blades. Now the current ones you have chosen push through 31CFM @ 31DB. Might I suggest these fans, they will add an extra $40 to your budget, but it will give a much great performance in cooling aswell as noise because they have a rating of 92CFM @ 19DB. They look hideous but wont notice them if you put them in a pull formation, this means they PULL air through the radiator as opposed to PUSH where air is pushed through the radiator.

I believe your case already comes with a radiator mount, but if not I'll provide a link to one. Also, the radiator you've chosen seems pretty decent, so no dramas there.

Did you mean this pump?

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_160_296&products_id=21315

Also 16od/10id is the mm conversion for 3/5id 5/8od.

It's a weird conversion and took me a wile to find out the correct units.

I'll check out the other size tubing :)

Both pumps are the same my friend. Ok, that's alright then. As long as your fittings are the same dimensions as the tubing 3/8ID 5/8OD, than you'll be absolutely fine.

What fans were you taking about I can't see the link haha. Dw your giving me advice so I don't take offense to your help. I don't wana be a spending money on crappy parts.

In saying that thanks for the detailed feedback :)

Sorry I thought I put the link in. These fans are the enthusiasts option, ask anyone ..people speak very highly about Noctua fans...apart from the color of them :).

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_413&products_id=19897

Look your parts are fine, not bad at all. Just if you want to spend money on such an investment, lets face it watercooling a PC is a big investment, than you want to be sure it's going to perform how you want it to. So you really have 3 options for watercooling your system.

1. Custom, whereby you pick all the parts yourself

2. Kit, whereby all the parts and chosen for optional compatibility and performance

3. AIO or all in one, whereby it's a very simple set up where everything is combined into a neat, easy to install, zero maintenance watercooling solution.

Yeah I thought you were talking about the noctua fans. They look just sooo....ehhhhh lol but I will def change my fans seeing as. Like you said, you won't see them in the config you mentioned.

I guess it's a very clever sales and consumer focus point. When you see that color combination the first thing that comes to mind is 'Noctua'. Good luck on your build, be sure to post your progress in the build log sub-section of the LinusTechTips 'workbench' section, you'll be able to receive great advice there from people with loads of experience. In the mean-time feel free to ask for any more help.

Very true although another color scheme would of been nice haha. Thanks for all your help will def post updates once I start building :D

Luckily i checked but the 900d doesn't say that CEB motherboards are compatible with it.

So i was originally getting the Asus p9x79 e-ws but as its CEB i don't think it will work. (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_1299&products_id=25456)

Any recommendations for other motherboards in around the $500-$600 mark?
