Brave browser top menu while Fullscreen?

Last night after 12 years of exclusively using Firefox, finally got to the point where I just couldn't do it anymore and made the switch to Brave (if anyone's interested as to why, simply put this past month I've been running into more issues with it not responding frequently, and yesterday it got the point where I couldn't use it for more than a minute or two without it freezing up).

 

I genuinely do like Brave, and think it's a pretty cool browser. That said, I would prefer if Fullscreen would behave more like FF, that actually being one of the big reasons why I stuck with FF instead of browsers based on Chromium. I really don't like how Fullscreen essentially just makes the current tab Fullscreen, and I shouldn't have to use hotkeys to go left or right with my tabs. I don't see why can't just have the top menu auto hide.

 

I've tried searching around online for this, and have come across a bunch of posts on Brave's forums that have no responses to them. I've seen people talk about how doing Ctrl/cmd + shift and F supposedly fixes that, but ain't solving the issue for me.

 

I don't know if this is a Linux issue or not, with me using EndeavourOS which is an Arch distro. When I installed the browser I did so using the terminal, but I wonder if maybe there's a flatpak version, and if maybe that one will work better.

I don't like flatpacks but there's one: https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.brave.Browser  Maybe features you want are in the nightly builds, so perhaps try those.

 

Why is Firefox freezing for you?  It works fine here.

Legit have no clue. Even when I close it, and even end the process and start a new, it'd just freeze up while I'm typing something on twitter or Facebook.

 

I've seen people say they're not having my issue with Brave, so the only thing I can think of is trying the flatpak one. I know there are times when one version is better than the other. Steam I always install through the terminal, and have heard that the flatpak for it is pretty bad, but for something like Lutris I used to install via the terminal, but found the flatpak of it to perform better.

Maybe start with a new profile and see what happens, or perhaps your computer runs out of RAM.  Firefox isn't exactly resource-friendly.

I never used a flatpak.  Their idea isn't bad, but they are being used as tools for being lazy at the cost of wasting resources instead of doing it right.
