Wanting to buy the parts for a pc for a gift for my gf

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

Go with a Ryzen 5600 - it's very good deal, great performance for money ...

Ryzen 5600 also comes with a stock cooler that's decent and can be enough for the start.

You don't need such expensive motherboard, but also no need to go super cheap with B450 chipset motherboard.

110$ MSI PRO B550M-VC WIFI Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (PRO B550M-VC WIFI) - PCPartPicker

has the latest Wifi 6e wireless, has usb 10g front panel header, has good mix of usb connectors in the back, has rgb headers (4 pin rgb and 3 pin rainbow)

120$ MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (B550M PRO-VDH WIFI) - PCPartPicker

the older version with wifi5 if for some reason the previous is not stocked/available

RAM is fine if you want RGB ram, otherwise there's cheaper ram sticks.

The SSD you chose is SATA, get a nvme SSD, it's faster and not that much more expensive and really go for 1 TB, spend 10-20$ more and get 1 TB

SN570 suggested above is good choice.

Skip on the mechanical drive and move those $50 to the video card and get something more powerful, if possible. 1 TB will be enough for a few games and a couple months or until next paycheck

It’s been a few years since I last built a pc, haven’t been keeping track of trends and prices either. I love playing games with my gf, but we’re reaching a point where the games we want to play aren’t running on her laptop. I was looking at getting her the parts and building it together as an activity, and was wanting a second look over the list I have atm.

I know she wants something relatively nice looking, nothing over the top but some rgb here and there to make it special. 1080p at 60fps, is the low goal, but more fps would be great. Wanting rtx as well, also wanting to future proof a little with a heftier psu, wifi is a must, and the windows on there is just a reference for me to see. Ignoring the operating system I’m wanting to keep it below $1000. If any more can be cut down without sacrificing too much on looks or performance that would be great!

I would easily recommend something like this. Like others are saying, you can get a Windows 10 or 11 key for cheap elsewhere (would recommend 10 vs 11 right now).
