Ummm, NAT and DHCP are two completely different things, neither of which are related to hosting a minecraft server.

DHCP is how hosts get a dynamic IP address and other network information (DNS for example)

NAT is how multiple devices appear behind a single public IP address

Hi!

I think I'm going to make a minecraft server, but should I host it with NAT or DHCP? I'm going to use the mineos plugin in truenas.

I think you need to try and rephrase your question, and explain what your trying to accomplish and what the question you have actually is.

Your going to use NAT unless you plan on putting this server on its own dedicated internet line (which would mean either buying a second internet connection likely from a different provider and running it to your house), or no longer providing internet to anything in your house except this server… both of which are likely not what you want to do.

DHCP, as said above, is what hands out IP address, gateway and DNS information. Your networking has a DHCP server (built into your router, it’s how all of your devices magically get IP addresses and magically can connect to the internet), so, yes, you likely are using DHCP as well.
