I had friends make me an overlay and the overlay blocks the games when i preview it. (I use OBS if that helps)

Use a chroma key setting to only show what you want on the overlay.

First off, make sure the image you want to overlay is on the layer above whatever it is you're recording.

Whatever overlay you're using, anything you don't want shown, make it a solid color. Easily done in paint.net by having what you want removed in the video being on the bottom layer.

In OBS, add an Image, select your overlay. For the Color Key, click on "Select" and click on the colored area of your overlay you want removed. Set the Similarity to 100. (Might need to be lower if you have aspects of the image that are similar to the colors you're using. If you have say a grey banner or something, go with a bright, unused color such as yellow or green.

And this is how it'll turn out (roughly, may take some tweaking).
