Budget (including currency): preferably less than US $800, My absolute max is US $1000

Country: United States of America

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games: Elden Ring similar games

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I am wondering if you guys have any recommendations for my build or tweaks I could make to my existing build (not in real life, in pc part picker). I don't know if it is worth it to do zen 4 or zen 3. Here is the link to my build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/v9t9v3. Or also refer to the picture I attached.

This youtube video showcases games and their framerates played on Ryzen 5 5500 and RX 6600 system, (with slightly faster RAM and better Motherboard, but that doesn't really change much).

Elden Ring at 3:28 locked at 60 fps (probably Vsync or something)

This basicaly shows you how rough estimate of how the parts you picked would have performed in games showcased on those specific quality settings.

  • Looks fine to me
  • idk if better than stock CPU cooler is needed but nothing wrong with keeping things cool
  • I recommend heading into PSU section on this forum and asking of the PSU is good enough for this build

If you have Case fans included in your case then dont buy the noctua fans and stick with the default case fans. Why? Because they are expensive, your pc isn't getting hot enough for it to matter and now you saved money for a better cpu. In conclusion my only tweak would be the cpu ( the ryzen 5600 or 5600x is a pretty good cpu)

Your psu should also be enough for this build. I have a friend with the same gpu and almost identical cpu

With a 500watt psu and it works splendidly.

But dont take my word for it and ask around. Im just trying to give you my perspective and as a human with common sense you should see what other pc fanatics think of you build.

isn't 5600 and 5600x the same CPU but very slightly faster/slower?

Damn i just have a list from a previous thread laying around that happens to be perfect for this thread, its even <800$

Yes buy a used gpu, 6800 float around ~400$ on ebay, far far superior to a 6600

Also case has 3 fans already so no need to buy more

You are absolutly right! In this case it would not matter and i would opt to go for the non x version for the lower price.

Unless OP is planning to play/do something more CPU than GPU reliant, which "gaming" doesn't sound like that's the case

Exactly. For "future proofing" you might want the x variant but personally i think it doesnt matter. He is just playing gpu bound games and not cpu bound games so it should be fine. Even if its cpu bound i think the ryzen 5 5600 can handle it. But some simulators and building games might get rough on high/ultra settings.

Too much money in useless cooling, drop the cooler and fan, instead get a 5600 and a nvme drive, maybe a b550 board as well

here is a revised version of the build because of your guys comments, what do you think?

I'd look for a better PSU, 500W is barely enough and those VS units are pretty mediocre.

TV Streaming PC: Intel Nuc CPU - i7 13th Gen | RAM - 16GB DDR4 3200mhz | Storage - Crucial P3 Plus 1TB Nvme |

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra - Black 256GB |

Eh my list is likely still better especially psu wise, you are getting a shittier lower power unit heck its underpowered yet its only 7£ less than a 650w legion gx pro and thats a solid psu

If you want a better ssd then get a cs2030 or equivalent, 1030 is just another lowend ssd

5500 vs 5600 not that much diff in performance, id just save the 40$

I just realized that I would like to play some city sims/builders, would you still recommend a 5 5600?

It's really no fun buying a semi-modular power supply. Also like @Pixelfie said, you really want like 750-850watts these days

Eh id still go 5500, performance gap can be closed by ocing to 4.6-4.8g 1.3-1.4v static allcore

you can also increase performance by ocing the balls off the ram till you hit max ram speed on 1:1 ram : fclk so around 5000mhz cause its cezanne but that is just p a i n because high freq ram oc though youd see larger gains than on other chips due to the 5500 having smaller cache
