Ok so i have been looking to build a new good quality high spec(i7/ryzen7 and 4080/7080/i think it will be a 7080 as the 4080 is unappealing)

i have realised that there are  a few issues that come up when deciding which cpu i should buy, the gpu's aren't a problem as i can always swap them out later but for the cpu's i run in to the problem that intel will most likely change their motherboard sockets and platform and to upgrade next time i will also need to buy a new motherboard, whereas on amd, the motherboard will most likely last me another 3/4 generations of cpus, the problem is that the current amd cpus are not as good as the current intel ones, does the long term upgradability of ryzen offset the fact that it has less performance now and the fact that amd motherboards are very expensive right now?

Imagine everything i have written in a Linus Voice/ linus tone (Spock live long and prosper gif here ,idk why tho, i guess i just want to say that i like star trek and am waiting for new seasons of the ongoing shows), But seriously, a lot of what i type only makes sense when said in a Linus tone from an older ltt video (circa 2017-2019 & now 2024-onwards) basically before he got a beard and a lot of it should make sense even in a Linus with a beard face.

also note as per the latest typing test on my laptop, my accuracy is 69%

I'm not weird/creepy, I'm just observant I have ADHD and am not on any meds for it because I don't want to and don't need to be on meds. i also may just be depressed. If you find other things around you depressing, are you depressed or are you surrounded by depressing things?

This is literally asking someone to predict the future. Buy whatever is the best value now, don't buy into the promise of a company.

We don't know if the next Ryzen lineup would be a better value or worse than they are now, who knows, even AMD won't know.

AMD's threadripper socket was promised to have multiple generation, there was one socket where they promised to be compatible with at least 2 gens, but they outright invented a new socket for the new gen threadripper, i forgot which gen it was, but Linus has complained about this multiple times.

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.

it is true that for longevity amd is better compared to intel but the performance is better but less longevity I would wait and see what happens next cuz sometimes drivers and patches can make amd cpus run significantly better additionally intel is cheaper too so if u really wanted a cpu badly go for intel then but if u can wait longer wait for what happens for amd

The new Ryzen x3d cpus will be faster than intel. Also if you consider power consumption AMD uses ALOT less. If you can wait for AMD's new offer, you might be able to get the non 3dx cheaper than the current prices.
