Best Gaming Headset under $250

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a new gaming headset for someone and the budget is anything under $250.  It needs to be compatible with PC at minimum but if it is compatible with PS5 and Xbox also that would be nice. I would prefer wireless, but wired is also okay as long as it is a nice headset.  Sound quality is definitely the first priority over anything else.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated

Rode NTH-100 with a mod mic

if you want a slightly cleaner and crisper sound get the schiit fulla but the nth-100 sounds excellent on anything.

The 6xx is one of the best headphones made, but that put's you out of budget with a mic.  Also I consider it a cardinal sin to run it onboard because it responds so well to upgrades and shows everything about your equipment, that unless you plan on a dac/amp I would look at the PC37x which I haven't tried but everything else I mentioned I have.

Another option is the Phillips Fidelio X2HR or X3 with a mod mic

The fidelio is going to offer an open and wide soundstage with a slightly warm sound while the nth-100 is going to offer a rich full sound

even without a dedicated amp/dac, it will still sound excellently and probably sound the best in its price tier

The one with the included microphone is unfortunately out of the budget.

I'm trying to avoid extra wires and hassle.  Built in would be preferred.  Got any other recommendations?

if you want to have a built in mic, you will have to compromise on sound quality

if you want to sacrifice a little on sound quality, get the drop pc38x as it is the best sounding sub-250 gaming headset

That is ok then.  What would be a good headset with a built in mic?

@person123456789

I narrowed it down to these 3.  I decided that wireless was a necessity.

SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless

Sony-INZONE H7 Wireless

Logitech G Astro A30 LIGHTSPEED Wireless

Of these 3 which would you recommend the most?

if sound quality is your only goal, get the sonys but i would advise you to try all of them out at a store to see which one you like

Just FYI, the mod mic can have the cable wrapped with a sleeve so it's basically just one cable.  I don't do that because I'm frequently changing headphones

Another reason to avoid built in mic's is that the shared ground can be more likely to provide feedback from input to output
