I am seeing the new pixel watch come out and I wanted to hear what people think of smart watches.
$350 isn't a lot of money, but it is for something I could dislike.

I also see this as a bit of a fad that sorta sticks. Kinda like VR. It was super cool when it came out, but a few people have it and less use it.
Still really cool and stuff but, not as cool as people imagined. But others are die hard "THIS IS THE BEST!"

I wouldn't get a Pixel Watch...it's a first gen product, and the battery life has been universally seen as poor.

Sadly the same is true about the phones. Come on Google, you make the OS, it should be stellar.

Battery life is the biggest detractor for me. As soon as they last 4 or 5 days, then I'll be more interested. Though the Oura might change my mind on that, as I wouldn't need it for a lot of the added features. However then I think about it, and I'd just be getting the watch for notifications. Which I can just check on the phone itself.

As much as I've been tempted to buy a smartwatch just to try it out...I've just always been a mechanical watch enthusiast. I'm far more likely to drop money on a Breitling than an Apple Watch.

Love the amount of effort you put into the post. It's nice to see it properly fleshed out.

Another reason I'm skeptical of the pixel watch.

I found the Pixel 4a to be pretty awesome for the 2~ years I've had it. Especially since it was $370 new with tax shipped.

Thanks.
I've made a few polls in past years like one asking about intel cpus vs ryzen and why people bought one over the other.

I take pride in my threads for information discussion haha.

The 5a 5G and 6a both had stellar battery life. Which is even stranger. Why can they do that on mid tier phones, but when it comes to the flagships fail so horribly? Especially in the 6a's case, it still uses the Tensor chip. It just wreaks of poor high refresh optimization.

Weird... I have noticed lots of flagships-noticibly Samsung-to have horrible battery life & physical life... Samsung could have changed since the early 2010s.

I figured Google would swoop in making quality mid tier phones that were all great prices and great value but yeah... their new stuff is super expensive.

I'll be frank: I love my Apple Watch and almost feel naked without it. It's mainly useful for notifications, like work email or when my delivery food has arrived, but it has also improved my fitness and even helped me catch important calls that I'd have otherwise missed. And yes, I consider it a fashion item — a steel watch with a leather strap looks nice. I have a Series 5 and plan to upgrade to next year's Series 9.

It's a bit odd to call smartwatches a fad. The Apple Watch has been around for seven years, and the market as a whole is still growing. I know I see a ton of smartwatches on people's wrists (mostly Apple, some Fitbit). Smartwatches probably won't be as vital as phones are, but they're easy sells to anyone who wants to get fit or just get a heads-up for text messages.

I don't have a smartwatch, but because I would like to invest in SmartThings/Samsung ecosystem, Galaxy Watch 5 has peaked my interest. I've been wanting a smartwatch for a long time, but I just didn't have the opportunity to get one. Previously battery life on smartwatches sucked, but GW5 seems to have solved this issue, many people claiming 2 days of battery life out of one of them.

The Galaxy Watch 5 is honestly the best smartwatch if you're on Android, full stop. You'll definitely want the larger case size (either 44mm standard model or 45mm Pro) if you want good battery life, but the performance is there and the ecosystem is decent. And I'd be less interested in SmartThings so much as I would Matter, but thankfully Samsung is supporting that more universal standard.

It's kind of like going multi monitor. You don't really notice the downsides without one, but once you get one, you can't go back.

I ran some errands a few days ago and forgot my watch (I have an S5, plan to upgrade to the S7 in two years); I forgot how annoying pulling out my phone to check the time/see if someone texted me is compared to just checking on my watch.

My style is a dark gray sport band (non-Nike because the Nike bands makes it look like you have a weird case of mosquito bites on your arm when you take it off) with aluminum case.

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.
