Rtx 3090 ti vs 700w psu

xhackforeverxdx
Go to solution Solved by xhackforeverxdx,

Small update got a rtx 3090 ti runs cyberpunk without any Problem whole system pulls 580w with the i7 8700k at 4.7ghz so even this * shitty * psu can handel it beeing using it for a week it even runs fine with the 3090 ti sitting at 2.1ghz

Hey does someone know if its possible to run a rtx 3090 ti with a be quiet pure power 10 700w my cpu is a i7 8700k 4.9ghz pulling around 120w i saw some insane deals on the 3090 ti used in germany for around 800 / 900 euros and was thinking about buying one since the 4080 12gb i wanted to buy seems horrible for 1100 euro new since its actually slower then a 3090 ti without dlss 3

I just want to know will my psu explode or not ? xD and if it really fails is it gonne damage anything

PSU won't explode, nor will it fail and damage anything.  Not how PSU's work.

Now will it run the 3090Ti?  Not sure. Try it, and if not, buy a new PSU.

If the psu cant handel it the pc will just shut down right ? There is no perm fuses that blows so i could restart the pc after it shutdown and limit the 3090 ti to like 400w i stead of 450 right ?

It may start tripping OPP, OCP or OVP what that'll look like is a sudden 'cut' to all power on the PC.  It'll just mean that the card is drawing over the PSUs rated power, current, or voltage.  The recommended PSU for a 3090ti i believe is 850w

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

I would personally not even try that. I wouldn't use a 3090ti with less than 850w but ideally 1000w. And btw, that 8700k will bottleneck it pretty hard unless you're running 4k

I play in 4k thats why i even look at the 3090/ti i know the cpu is on its way out but looking at benchmarks there is maybe a 1/2 fps diff at 4k so i dont really think a whole new system is worth it

Nah at 4k you will be GPU bound so its fine. Either way, that 700w is no dice for the 3090ti

Sometimes it just crashes to desktop and the Nvidia driver restarts.  I had that issue when I got my 3080 (it was a Seasonic 850W).

How the hell does a 3080 overpower a 850w psu that makes no sense 😄

Transient spikes and too much noise on the sense pin(24pin mobo cable) that Seasonic does not like

Later models apparently fixed it.  My PSU was just short of the 10 year warranty when I RMAd it.  Got a Rm750x while waiting for the replacement and put on Ebay.

Pretty bad PSU to start with. FSP Raider ACRF platform with DC-DC inside but dispite of that a bad voltage stability and Bronze efficiency so a lot of heat from the PSU.

You may want to not look into the new Z06 Corvette's power and its gas mileage then.  We've had a constant scaling of power and performance recently in many industries that's insane.

If your family car doesn't make over 400hp, you're out of touch.  If your computer doesn't have a 1000w PSU, you're lame.

I pretty much made up my mind and will look for a 3090 non ti that recommands a 750w i think my 700w will handel it thanks for all the feedback

Also with a 3090 non Ti it's not recommand to use such budget PSU. The platform is the issue. I don't recommand to get over a RTX 3070.

Guess we agree to not agree on this one if seen one vid of a 3090 running even with a 500w power supply also i just run a cpu stresstest with a watt meter in the wall only pulling 190 watt ish so to me i atleast have 450+ leftover or not ? If its rated for 700w i really dont understand why u would think that i cant even run a 3080 with 320w ish

a 3090 ti is maybe close to the sun but a normal 3090 without oc pulls 380 watts looking on yt benchmarks playing games at 4k

ACRF does not have a proper handling of the powerspikes of the GPU and the transient response time is to high. Besides that Pure Power 10 has a stupid power distribution over the 12v rails with EPS and PCI-e on the same (12v2) rail.

Well no idea what all that means tbh but like someone else did point out it will not break the system and if it just does not work i will just replace it since i need a 3090+ for my 4k monitor and i dont want less
