Hey guys, zen 4 is utter dissapointment, had x570 aorus elite + 5800x + 16gb gskill ddr4 ram using with RTX 3080 for atleast year and half, got rid of it, thinking that ogh in autumn zen 4 will be far superior than intel 12th. However it barely on par, while costing far more. X670 cheapest board in europe is 350eur, and even leaked B650 prices are terrible cheapest barebone msi motherboard will go for 240eur, that not bugdet price. Currently i am using exotic cpu ive got for 115eur. E5 2699V3 18 core 36 threads, its 2696v3 configuration, it supports DDR3 and DDR4. After turbo boost unlock mode it works at 3.8ghz on all cores, but sustains that frequiency only if i lock cpu to 12 cores. Same RTX 3080 10gb, and my monitor has resolution 3440x1440. Should i just wait for X3D ryzen cpus? or just get i5 13600KF when available? X99 xeon is mighty, its around zen + and zen 2 performance in gaming, while superior in multicore loads, however games like far cry 6 love stronger cores... Something like Dying light 2 doesnt bottleneck, i am getting 140fps on tweaked settings. What whould be your opinion? currently i decided just to wait and keep current combo, its my backup pc.

Yes just wait for the new X3D's. Also why not just keep the 5800x? Why downgrade to an older CPU. For gaming at least it dosen't make sense to have 18 cores

18 core is my backup pc in another room near TV. And i got rid of my ryzen build in the beginning of the summer while i could get more money from it. If i knew zen 4 was garbage i would keep it.

What xeon? They barely reach zen 1 performance. The e5 2699v3 is barely zen 1 single core and that is compared to a ryzen 3 1200.

Dont get it its a waste of money.

Its why I dont advice people to do this.Let this be a self lesson for the future bad product launches are all too common.

Keep in mind zen 4 is a good improvement over zen 3. But the 5800x3d is such an outlier its disrupting the market well after its launch.

Not true, if you never had x99, don't speak non sense, I built many pc's on xeon's in past three years, there is also plenty of youtube content out there prooving it. I build pc's for sale on 2620v3,2630v3,2670v3,(2678v3 which is 12 core 24 threads 3.3ghz cpu with ddr3 and ddr4 support). And currently i am using 2696v3 which fastest 4th intel xeon cpu out there, with highest single core frequiency. Before 5800x i had 3600 for two years. 4TH xeon's even cheapest one after turbo boost unlock mode, are on par with R5 2600/r7 2700x in many many games, but ryzen must be overclocked to 4ghz atleast to be able to match it. There are games where 4th xeon's ahead of zen + and matched my r5 3600. Check Ukrainian channel Miyconst he did many comparrissons.

I have had x99. These xeons arent that fast. You can single core bench em anywhere and they are just slower.

The moment a v3 goes over 3.8ghz it will match  1200 in single core. 4.0 for a ryzen 5 1600 and 4.1 for a ryzen 1700.

I know this because I work with these and can literally show you if I want to with a 5820k. Keep in mind that thing will boost faster than any of those xeons will and it will match my ryzen 1700 in single core but still loses to a ryzen 1600 in most benchmarks because it cant boost as high with multiple cores loaded.

The one thing these xeons do have is cache and that can sometimes save them. But this is a big variable that is very hit or miss.

Yes you can boost the xeons but at that point you should also boost the ryzens and zen one does reliably go to 4.1 outclassing the xeons.

And btw zen is now like 5 or so years old so pretty cheap used, same goes for the boards, decent b3/450 can be found <60$ and thats for stuff like the pro4, go down a tier to a320 and now you are only paying 30$ or less for the board when x99 boards at the cheapest are china "x99" with repurposed chipsets off servers and apparently mainstream chipsets too, those still go ~60$ even for the matx ones off aliexpress

Basically zen and x99 trade blows here, if you need the cores go x99 (dirt cheap e5 2670 at like 10$ last time i checked), if you need the singlethread with possibility of upgrading in the future go zen. Oh and i cant check aliexpress cause for some reason now its broken for me and the homepage is a garbled mess, search dont even work either

Yeah noticed it too, been buying stuff from aliexpress for many years, have experience with atleast 6 different x99 chinese branded motherboards, i live in Europe i had no problems with shipping. Considering that only now Ryzen prices dropped drastically and 5600 can be had for 160$ and it will work just fine on A520 for 60$ also ddr4 prices dropped too. I would reconsider, glad i didn't order any x99 combos for whole summer. Now when you can use 5 year old motherboard with newest zen 3 cpu's X99 dropped appeal for me. My mistake was getting rid of my main x570+5800x build, AMD dissapointed me with insane prices for zen 4 while barely on par with 9 month old 12th from intel. I don't see value here. And as i said x99 + e5 2699v3 + 32gb of ram is my backup pc i built for 300$ and i had in addition with my main ryzen build. X99 is here to stay. However main question is should i just wait for X3D and maybe intel 14th. Because zen 4 is terrible value and intel 13th even though cheaper overall option, however its end of platform for them. So i probably answered my question. But i wanted to hear your opinion.

You dont just buy a 5800x3d and pair with a <60$ used b450 like the pro4?  5800x3d matches zen4 and 13th gen in gaming, no real need to wait for zen4 3d but if you are fine with the backup system for now and can wait a few months then why not ig
