Recommendations for a best-bang-for-the-Canadian-buck laptop

Hello everyone,

I'm usually quite tech-savvy, but I haven't kept up to date with the latest tech in laptop brands, CPUs, etc. I'm a Mac guy (sorry) and I'm looking for a no-frills, worry-free laptop for my mother. It has to be a Windows machine, as it's what she's familiar with and I don't see myself forcing her to switch to Chrome OS at her age. Here are the basics I'm looking for:

2 in 1 (or whatever those things are called, with a flippy hinge, y'know?)
8 GB of RAM (she only surfs the Web)
Good battery life
$300-$500 CAD price range

I did do my own research, but I like to ask people too, stats on a product description page don't always translate to real life experience.

Older Lenovo from eBay. Aim for something like a T470, T470s.

I bought mine, fully loaded, for about $150.

If you must have a 2-in-1, you can find those too, but there's usually a higher chance of damage.

Thank you for the welcome! I'd like to stay away from ebay though. New or open-box is what I'm looking for, I should've specified.

You can get New or Open Box from eBay, but curious, what's your reason for wanting to stay away? It's probably the most secure place you can buy something, BestBuy Marketplace included. Though that would be my second suggestion. Check out BestBuy, sort by Open Box, and only buy from BestBuy itself. You can get some killer deals. I got my monitor there, almost $400 off, and there wasn't a single sign of use on it.
