Instead of saying RTX 4080 12 GB, can we just refer to it as the RTX 4075?   Easier to say.   More Accurate.

If the community starts calling it that, it send a message to Nvidia that we see what they are doing. We reject their Marketing labels and call it what it is.

I am a real person. I do not use any bots or automation for anything online. This forum account was created with my primary Gmail account I have used for over 15 years. Long time LTT watcher. Never had a reason to create an account and post until now.

I don't know exactly how to describe it, but every time I hear/read "4080 12GB", it makes my brain hurt in a way that is worse than the typical "cringe" reaction. I was hoping there could be an easy-to-say nickname that would catch on. Based on the diverse opinions in this thread about naming this card, it is clear that no consensus is likely and that we are stuck with what Nvidia decided to call it.

I think calling it a RTX 4070Ti would've been better, because of less Cuda cores, and 192bit bus, although the pricing is a lot worse than the naming, the x80 tier used to be around $600-700, charging $900 for an x80 card is ridiculous.

For that price, I'd just buy a used 3090 on eBay. It's got twice as much VRAM, and will probably outperform the "4080" in most games unless you have RTX cranked up all the way.
