Looking for advice on new gaming build.

Budget (including currency): 20 000 swedish crowns

Country: Sweden

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video Editing, simulations, Unreal Engine. MFS2020, BF2042 and more AAA games.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Current plan is:

CPU: 5700X

GPU: 3080 OR 3070 TI

MOBO: Any cheap wifi 6 motherboard

RAM: 2×16GB 3200 MHz

Storage: 1tb m.2 SSD, 2 TB HDD

Is it worth buying a 3080 over a 3070 ti for 1440p gaming. In Sweden a 3070 ti is in most cases 150$ to 300$ cheaper toan a 3080. Is it worth the extra or should i stick to a 3070 Ti ?

About what id reccommend

https://se.pcpartpicker.com/list/L8F6Nc

Better cpu to help with video editing

Cheap aftermarket cooler to keep the cpu cool

Good mobo with wifi

Cheapest kit of 32gb ram

Good 2tb storage

At the price difference between the 3070ti and the 3080, it isn't really worth it for the small perfromane uplift that it brings. I could only see trying to squeeze it in if you needed the extra gbs of vram that it has.

Nice case and a solid 850 watt psu

Thank you so much for the help. I just have one question. Would you recommend the i5 12600kf or i7 12700f for a strict just gaming computer?

On paper a 3080 is a better buy than a 3070ti if it costs $100 more at most. 3080 for $300 more than 3070ti is terrible value for money. Pick the 3070ti then.

is there a reason you haven't considered AMD cards?

Yeah i thought so, the price varies so much here in sweden mostly because of high vat. The biggest reason why i haven't considered AMD cards is because i don't have a lot of experience with them and don't know how they compare to nvidia cards.

For everyday use they're pretty much the same.

I took the dive with my 5600XT and I dunno, it's a GPU that gets my games running. AMD has nearly all the features NVIDIA has except for Ansel. No one uses PhysX anymore so not really missing out on much unless you really love the first Mirrors Edge or Geralts hair settings.

Pricing right now favors AMD cards in most first world country regions, and there's a 6800 for 7k kr. 3070ti enters 6800 territory so it'll actually matter more game by game who gets more FPS. Search "yourgamehere 6800 vs 3070ti" and see which is better.

Okay thank you so much i will look into the games i play and see which one i stick with. Would you recommend i stick with the 5700x or go Intel or get another AMD cpu?

Hard to say. Everything is very close. With straight up "value" it's Intel but you get exactly what you pay for right now. Price to performance is in on a very linear scale.

CPU's are actually close as 12400F will get you the most "value" and 8 core Ryzen only cost a bit less than a i5 12600KF that has 10 cores. Most value however will come with motherboards. For some reason B550 for Ryzen are pretty pricy compared to many top B660 motherboards for Intel right now.

Either you save the most by going i5 12400F, B660 motherboard or spend a bit and get a 5700X with a B550 motherboard. With a 12600KF you might as well get a Z690 board but that's an increased cost for a "what if I overclock" scenario. Then again if you never plan to overclock then 12600KF with its more cores and faster speeds on a b660 motherboard is also a sensible choice.

And I've just gone a full loop... Pick what you like the most since your happiness > some "value" to random ass users on a forum.

Hate these benhmarks tho. mf too lazy to put an average fps counter...

Okay, thanks again for the help, I will see what my final budget is and work from there with your advice. Yeah i know but i greatly appreciate the advice😊. I totally agree just put an average fps counter so I dont have to look at it all the time.
