Download speed issue

CreativeXtent
Go to solution Solved by CreativeXtent,

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!

The dang Killer Network Service for the drivers was limiting the connection....

I killed the service and BAM super speed again.

So i turned it back on and it limited it self. so i launched the app that controls it and somehow it was set to a max of 12.5MB/s down....

Howdy all. i am having a weird issue.

My speed on speedtest.net are what they are supposed to be 1400/40

https://www.speedtest.net/result/13501040793

But i can try to download any file from any website and i am making out at 1300kbs.

I was thinking maybe its just one of the sites, so i started downloading from different websites and it would split the speed between them all...

any idea?

did you mean Mbps? or are you really getting 0.1% of your expected download speed?

Assuming you're only missing 100M, check your CPU usage while downloading. Also try running sfc /scannow from an elevated CMD window and reinstalling drivers on your network card.

Finally, sometimes you just get small performance dips. Dropping 8% of speed is a bit annoying, but it's not a disaster. You might try hooking a fan to the side of the modem and router because they tend to be passively cooled and can overheat. If nothing else works you can always reinstall OS.

Okay... THAT is bad. I assume you've tried windows network troubleshooting? Also of course you've rebooted.

You patch Mobo bios and used proper LAN/WIFI  drivers ? (gotta ask)
You using WiFI or patchcord to connect ?
If you are on patchcord, have you tried the other rj-45 on the back IO?

How old is the router?
Is it WIFI 5 or 6 compatible?

That's really weird. My next step would be to try on another network.

router is maybe 8 months old. the wifi is separate. it comes from my plumes i alpha and beta test. They are wifi5,6 compatible.

I can download the files at around the full speed i am supposed to get on the wifi on any other device ( phones, wifes laptop etc. ) just not my computer.
