The massive plate looking thingy on the cpu socket

I have absolutely no idea if this comes with the mobo or its a bracket from a cooler, i mean i got this x48t bundled with an h212 and a few other things, i havent dealt with an h212 before and ive only seen cheap chinese brackets, i dont even mount my coolers most of the time and just let gravity do the work since i run a testbench

IMG_20220730_131932.thumb.jpg.1d81381234dfbaf3c3ed945680458faf.jpg

Heres the front side

Looks like the bracket thing is secured with (deez) nuts and not screws so im not sure if its meant to be removable or not

Basically just wanna confirm if this is a part of the mobo or is it a part of the h212 since im selling both actually (x48t has garbage fsb capability, not in need of another tower cooler when ive got my ghetto loop)

I don't think it's what the motherboard came with, no.

The "nutz" is the cooler's stand-off
Even the more modern Hyper 212 uses that kinda "nutz".

You can see on page 2 in the link above for bundled accessories.

The chonky standoff?
Dunno about that one, but modern Hyper 212 comes with some sort of adapter to help remove them using a phillips screwdriver.
The backplate is different from mine too. Mine is Hyper 212 LED Turbo.
That backplate on your MB looks like a Hyper 212 Evo

https://www.coolermaster.com/id/id-id/catalog/legacy-products/cooling/hyper-212-plus-with-fan-bracket/#specifications

But yea, you can use any hex socket or plier.
Just don't go ham, dunno how long that one been installed, or how it was installed.

Well, I don't know for sure. I just look at that backplate & thought it looks the same as Evo, then google recommended me 212 Plus.
Cooler Master uses same backplate for various models of the same gen, so ...

The diagonal metal bar on the back probably installed (dunno from where) to serve as a retainer for the heatsink in front.
Since the motherboard came with a heatsink on the back, which serves as a retainer as well.

No the diagonal metal bar is for the nb, sb, and vrm heatsink mounting, same goes for that heatsink looking thingy on the back

This is the era of massive mobo heatsinks cause nb and sb got pretty damn hot, and yes this thing is heavy af, i thought my p5q and ds4p were quite heavy well those pale in comparison to this thing. I bet even the needlessly massive vrm heatsinks of today cant compare with the crap they had back then weight wise xD

I call it the era where you can use your motherboard as a weapon.
Where the level of cool-ness of your setup set by how janky your motherboard looks

I have to add my backup drive to my setup, it will be a pita but it has my pictures on it from over the years. I will go through them some time and show you some ghetto, you would love it lol. I still have my Rampage Formula X48 DDR2 board that I won my class (Air cooled) with in Forum Warz summer 2007 I think 😄

You could daily 550-600fsb with that board and a good Wolfedale ❤️
