Budget (including currency): $2000

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: basically it'll be used mainly for gaming, but i'll run some engineering programs one it too.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LBjbk9

this is first the build. looking forward to upgrading to a 5800x soon.

Also due to the 3070 shortage is it better to just a buy a prebuilt? with the same specs.

The shortage is pretty much over, 3070s are very easy to find for the ~$600 range.

Anyway, this system has some really weird choices in it. Paying double for a motherboard than you are for your CPU makes very little sense, A 360mm AIO for a CPU that draws 70W makes very little sense, and AM4 in generally doesn't make a ton of sense anymore for most people. The B550 Taichi has basically the same feature set for half the price, if you even need most of those features, and Alder Lake just makes more sense overall with the 12700F being only $300, beating the 5900X in gaming and matching it in productivity.

Get the system @Jeppes recommended, it makes a lot more sense for this budget and is basically what I'd recommend (maybe the B660M-A Pro instead, but that's just being nit picky), but don't pay $120 for Windows, get a key for $20 at a reseller.

Add to that ditch the platinum and save 50$ by going gf1 pe, and board choice either b660m-a pro or z690 ud ax (mainly focusing on i/o)

make little sense getting an AMD AM4 platform right now, unless you really dont want to upgrade (update) in the near future.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

sorry guys i don't know that much about building pcs.

just wondering what would be the best amd system for $2000, most of my friends told me to go amd. but now after seeing the benchmarks for the Intel Core i7-12700F 2.1 GHz 12-Core Processor  i'm honestly getting completely confused. lol
